TC Electronic960900005 Flashback X4 Delay Effect

The delays are mostly good sounding, particularly the Space Echo model
The X4 has lots of headroom so you can patch it at the end of a chain of pedals without it breaking a sweat. It's also very quiet with virtually no self noise. The delays are mostly good sounding, particularly the Space Echo model, which sounds nothing like a Space Echo but it's still pretty useful. Now for the bad part: the switches have a tendency to go bad, and as they are electronic relays rather than mechanical they are difficult to replace. This shows quite early, so check your unit carefully when you get it, I had to send two back before I got one that worked fine.Besides that, my main gripe is that none of the tape or analogue delay models have the delay time linked to the pitch, as they should have - therefore t's impossible to recreate the 'warble' effect with this unit, which for me is a major flaw. Several people requested this in the TC forum but the software has not been updated in over two years. The Toneprint feature is, in my opinion, a bit of an amateurish gimmick.

Exceeded expectations!
Excellent unit - does all I want from it and more. I bought it as in gigging situations I need a number of presets to cover the material we do but I also need tap tempo - this pedal does it all and fabulously well; I particularly love the modulated model. Truth be known, I probably won't use all of the features available but it's nice to have things like the loop function - it may come in handy.Build quality extremely good - like all of the TC Electronic products I have; I would expect it to stand up to many years gigging.Good price too!

Excellent
Stunning, and solid, use it from many guitarist, I never had any problem. It’s big for a small pedalboard check the dimension to be sure it fits. The loop section need to be activate with a switch, this avoid you any problem during the gig

Great looper/delay
Almost certainly the most used pedal on my board. In order of usefulness, I use it as:- a looper - it's fantastic for looping guitar parts. There are separate buttons to record/play/stop/undo and this makes it very easy to use. I use the looper for: playing scales/arpeggios over chords, learning songs with two guitar parts, planning guitar solo parts.- a delay pedal - it sounds great and you can save 3 presets- a basic chorus/flanger pedal. With the toneprint editor software I've been able to come up with a decent chorus and flanger sound. Not as sophisticated/flexible as dedicated pedals but enough for what I need. The downsides are:- it's big- the looper is limited to 40 seconds

Great pedal some downsides ( which wont bother all)
This is a great pedal . I loved using it , especially the preset on C . You can make your own delays and save them on the pedal . BUT in my experiance this pedal has some downsides1 It is big on a small board it takes up 2 and 1/2 stomp box pedal spaces.2 It needs 300 mA so if your Power supply is say 900 then this one pedal leaves you with 600 mA for other pedals in your chain3 I didn't find it to be very robust.I am sad to sell mine on beacuse it has a lot of excellent features. The negatives will not bother many users . It is great at what it does but it's perhaps for a particular user.

... pedals for live performance in my time including the nice Boss DD20 Giga Delay
I've used a lot of effects pedals for live performance in my time including the nice Boss DD20 Giga Delay. But this is just great and easily tops it in my view. Works in the studio. Works live. Uncomplicated to use with knobs and thankfully with no difficult to use text screen, but with so many great sounding delays and programming options. Unlike another report I think it a complete misrepresentation to say that this company are only in it for the money; they keep the effects market innovative and competitive. I've had mine a while and it still works perfectly. See reviews on youtube to see how much it does.
