Is the manufacturer going to call me?
I have a situation and would like to share and ask y'all a question, looking for more of an opinion I suppose. So here it is. My most favorite toy in the 70's was my "hippity hop"...a big red bouncy ball with a handle that you hop on. I bought one and put it away for my grand-daughter when she was 2. I got it out about a month ago because she is now tall enough to use it. I was Amazon one night and happened to discover that now days they sell adult sized hopper balls, so with my new found svelte self I bought one! I thought "oh what fun to hop around the house with my g'daughter!" Not to mention great exercise. ..So I looked for the one with the most 5star reviews and it is supposed to be able to hold 300 pounds. I weigh 170.4 as of this morning. It came on Monday, the 10th of November. I have used it approximately 6 hours in the past 2 weeks...(about 30 minutes at a time is all I have worked up to). My home is VERY clean, all hardwood floors, except the baby's playroom, which we had carpeted in March, to cushion her falls. Last night she wanted to bounce with Grammy, I had not been on it for 2 days. I started bouncing on the carpeting, and the next thing I know "BOOM"!!! I swear the explosion rocked the ceiling! It threw me about 2 feet, and I landed on the floor. It was so loud my son and his wife came running from upstairs, as I laid on the floor covered in busted rubber. My 4 yr old G'daughter was nearly hysterical. "Grammy's hurt, Grammy's hurt". I was sure my left leg, and or hip were broken. After I calmed down my husband and son were able to literally pick me up off the floor. I soon discovered nothing was broken because while the pain in my hip, lower back, knee, and calf was nearly unbearable, I was able to walk. Sleep? Now that was a different story! There was no getting comfortable last night, and no amount of advil, aleve, tylenol, heating pads, nothing was helping. Around 11PM I called AMAZON, and told the girl what happened, she apologized profusely, refunded my money, and told me she would be contacting the manufacturer, and someone would get back to me. Now I am not a "sue happy" person, but this thing is rated for indoor/outdoor use, and for 300 pounds! I am in a ton of pain, and on disability for a blood disorder and auto immune disease. I tend to get staph infections very easily, and you would think under these circumstances someone would have been in a hurry to contact me! I only have Medicare, and if I go to the ER or my Family doctor I am gonna have pretty expensive co-pay, and I am sure they will want to do ex-rays, give me anti-inflammatories, etc.....It has been 24 hours since it happened, and the pain has increased. I have aching, burning, and as the night progresses walking gets more difficult. I just took an Epsome salts bath...but I don't think I will sleep again tonight. So what would you guys do? Here are the pictures of the ball...you can see it didn't split on the seam...it literally just blew apart!

Great fun for kids of all ages, 10 to 60
We bought a smaller version for a child and then decided it might be fun to have mother/daughter races and fun. It worked better than expected. It is harder for older folks or those with weak legs or bad backs to race on this of course but it's still fun just to bounce up and down. it's not as much exercise but it's fairly mild. These would be fun for a work party or family reunion, too, for some kind of contest or race. The ball had a slow leak and lost some pressure overnight so I asked for a replacement and it works perfectly with almost no air loss from day to day. The handle is sturdy and with the ball filled correctly even sturdy built folks can use it without worry, though they might be self conscious at first. Leave it unattended though and it's very hard to resist and even the timid will likely give it a try. You can fill it with the included hand pump which is well designed, but I used a small air compressor instead which made higher pressure easier to attain.

Mediocre bounce
Ours is an adorable pink color, so that was a hit - but as far as bounce...? Not very bouncy to us? My daughter is 8, but she's pretty tall for her age, however her legs do reach the ground so you'd think she'd be able to achieve a bit of bounce. She doesn't even leave contact with the floor. I was under the impression, somehow, that she'd be able to bounce - hop off the ground - a tiny bit. She still likes it, however she's using it more for practicing her back bends and back walkovers by bending into a back bend over the ball! Other note is, the pump ?? hahaaa! NO. My forearm muscles were burning from trying to pump this thing up with that puny little pump. Thankfully I have one of the foot pedal pumps - worked way better. I would still recommend it, it's useful, just doesn't get the bounce going like we anticipated, and using that pump will give you an unintended forearm workout and take forever!

Is there a more fun toy than this?
We own three of these and they are great. I have 5 kids ranging from 13 yrs-2 and they all love them. Also, when friends are over it's the first thing they go for, they even fight over them. They don't just use them for hopping. They create all sorts of games. Balance competitions, they try getting from one spot to another on two hopper balls with out touching the floor... they even play fight with them (like pillow fighting). These are lots of fun for all ages!

Great, durable fun for everyone
I bought this ball for my 11 year old daughter's birthday, and she LOVES it. She is 5'1" and 90lbs, and she uses it easily. I am 5'5" and 125lbs, and I can also easily use it. It's a favorite toy when she has friend's over. We plan to buy more for birthday gifts. We've had it for a few months, and it has held up well. My daughter is able to add more air when it needs it by herself.
