CULINARE White MagiCan Can Opener

I have used the MagiCan 'Auto' (metal body) model of this can opener for many years very, so when the handle started to come apart I decided to replace it with something similar. This particular model is made of a lighter weight plastic than I was expecting, so doesn't have the reassuring 'heft' of my old opener, but they seem do a good job and leave the lid and the top of the can safer to touch than other more traditional openers. How well they last remains to be seen. The only downside is that they don't cope well with deep seated lids such as you find on tins of salmon - but then again neither did my old set!

Only lasted a month

I have had numerous tin openers that were cheaper and all made opening a tin very frustrating. So I decided you get what you pay for and I'd spend a bit more. I have since owned two of these and find them very reliable. Makes tin opening very easy. It opens the tin on the outer rim rather than inside which is not great if, like me, you press the lid inwards to drain your tuna. Great for all other tins though so I just keep a separate can opener for tuna. Wouldn't be without one of these now. My last one broke but I think it was because I used to wash it in the dishwasher which weakened it as it is plastic. I now hand-wash and it's been working perfectly for over a year.

That good this is the second set purchased.Comfy to use and grip securely (our 5yo daughter can happily grip and turn with ease) - the previous set lasted over 5 years before the teeth stopped gripping the can; compare that to ones purchased from major supermarkets (for around £10pr) failing after 1-2 years I'm happy.Best thing is these are suitable for both left and right handed users - so no need to buy two separate openers!!NOTE.... these slice the top off the can, rather than remove the inner from out of the top (please excuse the description) and the resulting top edge is VERY sharp (rather than the sharp edge being inside the can).All in all pretty good value.

Easy to use can opener, and good value

Great to use as I have difficulty with other tin openers

I have tried other types of can openers in the past but I always revert back to this type. I find it reasonably easy to use (although with some cans it does take a bit longer).I purchase the can opener in September 2015 as I believed it was a good value product and it is still in use at the moment.I have an unstable shoulder so finding a can opener that works for me and that will not cause discomfort in anyway is a must.The can opener is easy to clean.

So far so good with this tidy little piece of kit. OK, so I'm not so keen on having sharp edged tins to put into recycling hence the drop to 4 stars At least with the conventional can opener you can tuck the sharp edges inside and don't have to worry that you are going to lacerate something whilst filling your waste bags.But for ease of use I can't fault it. I have severely osteoarthritic hands and have found operation a doddle.
