Mr Jack Pocket Size Game

i had heard of a game called Mr Jack and wanted to buy it and got this thinking it's the pocket version. I've since learned they are not the same at all, but that's my bad for not doing my research. this is a fun game, the package and quality is fine. i'd say it's not very playable for younger kids, maybe 13+ at least, if you want to enjoy the strategising of the game.there was a bit of a learning curve, the instructions were not very clear for me, had to watch youtube videos to get it.

This is a great little game for 2 players. One person plays the detective and the other Jack. OK so Jack the Ripper is hardly a happy theme for a game but it's not a problem and kids will not know about Jack the Ripper anyway so Mr. Jack is just a generic 'baddie'.The board is a basic 'map' of some streets of London (not real or to scale) and you take turns to move characters around the streets trying to either escape the area (if you play as Mr. Jack) or discover which character Mr.Jack is by deduction/elimination. In that sense it's kind of a mix of Cluedo and Chess but much better than either, and much prettier to look at and play with.Yes the first game or two you are finding your feet but that's not unusual for anything more complicated than Ludo. We sometimes forget Monopoly has a lot of rules but it doesn't seem like it because we've played it so much.Remember it's 2 players only so it won't get played as much as something like Ticket to Ride or Carcassonne. Nice little quick game (10-15mins) for 2 players. Manufacturers recommended age is 14 but played it with 10 year olds and they managed ok. Although not a heavy strategy game, it does throw up some interesting dillemas and makes you think ahead. Good gateway game.Nice material and art work. Comes in a very compact box and doesnt waste any space (as so many games do to try and seem bigger and more alluring)

I also ordered this game thinking it was in English and received a German/French version. Looking it up, I do believe the company who produce this game are French which makes sense that it is manufactured in their own language. The only part of the game that you need translation for is the rule book (the most important). However, if you google 'Mr Jack English pdf' you should be able to find an identical copy of the rules that can be printed out (I found the pdf posted on boardgamegeek.com). However, I do agree with others that it should be much clearer that it isn't an English game being purchased. All in all though, a very fun game for two players and very well constructed. I would recommend this for couples who would like to play more games together!

This is as good as they hype suggests it is. Easy to learn, hard to master. A quick 15-20 minute 2 player game that uses light strategy and tactics on both sides, cay out avoid being detected? Can you throw off the hunters and escape the board? Or can you track down Mr Jack and use your team of investigators to narrow the options as quickly as possible. Highly recommended.

If you speak English, the only way to actually try to play, is to get an English manual from the web.It is sold as an English/German version, but se the picture of the box . It is in 3 languages and none of them is English.See the product related questions- seller lies in the description for many months and 👎 does nothing about it.The game itself is ok , once you have everything translated.

Captures the flavour of the original Jack game in a much quicker, simpler format. Good fun

Beware! I ordered from seller "Mediazone", and there are no English instructions - despite the product information here. The best the seller could do was give a pdf link to an old version of the game (which is mostly the same, but not entirely).Game itself is very fun though.
