I stuck the thin steel plate to my phones back clear protective cover rather than stick to the phone or try removing the phone 's back. It can be seen through the cover but that doesn't matter to me.I didn't need to use any of the included rubber "packing" pieces, it fits the c.d. slot as supplied. It's a good tight fit in the slot. I've fitted it "upside down" for the phone to sit lower but might turn through 180 degees in the future.The phone does seem to stay in place and the magnets are quite strong. I have a 150 miles journey tomorrow and will see whether the phone stays in place over bumps etc.. The phone does wobble a bit though, but it is quite a heavy 5.5" screen phone.I will edit this review if the phone falls off or the wobbling is a bit too excessive.Edited to add another star. Phone remained firmly on the mount in spite of some poor roads. Very little wobble either. Soa recommended product.

This has worked perfectly for me.I didn't want a vent mount because they blocks the hot/cold air and the phone gets hot if you are using your air. I didn't want a dashboard mount because they can be distracting and a lot of them look pretty ugly and complicated.I was surprised and intrigued to see an option to convert a CD player slot into a phone mount. Since I never use the CD player this has worked perfectly in my Kia Picanto. It even sits high enough for the phone camera to have sight through the window of you want to use dashboard camera software.Tips to check :1. Make sure your phone won't obstruct you car radio digital display (doesn't with my Kia Picanto)2. Make sure charging cables won't get in the way (I bought a short cable and it works perfectly in my Kia Picanto)

I'm really happy with this one after struggling with a suction cup one (wouldn't hold) and a vent grill one (kept falling out). It's well made, sturdy enough, fits snugly in the cd slot without the additional spacers. Super quick to insert and take out. CD's can be played when it's in no problem. I've been using it for about two weeks now (around 500 miles), including on Sheffield's worst roads, and it's performing fine, no complaints. The magnetic sticker was easy to apply - my only gripe is that there should be two of them so you can use the holder with two devices. As it is, if two people drive the car or if you use more than one device, you have to buy two holders. The magnet is also strong enough, although I only have a Samsung A3 at the moment, and can't say what it would be like with a bigger phone.

Very unhappy with this product. I have what I consider to be a very standard CD player in my car and I thought I was going to have to break it to remove the phone holder. The attachment is too thick for the CD player opening and got wedged in it, nearly pulled the front off the stereo taking the holder out. Also, the mount protrudes so far that even if i was able to use this without damaging the CD player my hand would be hitting the phone when I change gear.Probably best avoided unless you're certain your car won't be the same.

Was good for a few weeks after that it kept falling from the slot, I have tried all the spacesrs but still, my phone kept falling with the whole mount every time I touch the mount.It was good, but not the way foward, bought the magnetic one instead that glues to the dash

The best option I have tried so far from a number of solutions. This is by far the most sturdy, but has the occasional dip where the ball socket attaches to the main frame of the rest. Not a massive issue. The handy magnetic design means you don't have to 'fumble' it just connects and disconnects real quickly. Pretty well designed although you cannot use your CD player at the same time (I have seen this an an option on others) - but then who plays CDs any more anyway? No worries there. Great price - reasonable product, would recommend.

I bought this to use with my google pixel 2 xl as old holder squeezed the sides of the phone. This is very sturdy and clipped into my cd slot very well on my Mercedes E class. The plate was easy enough to fit and the magnet is strong enough to hold the phone steady. However I had hoped the magnet would be able to hold the phone with the plate hidden in the case. Alas, with my official fabric case, the magnet isn’t strong enough. It hold the phone for a couple of minutes before falling off. I suspect a lighter (smaller) phone might be ok. Or possibly a different case. It looks like I might have to fix a plate on the outside of my case which I had hoped to avoid. Still, this is a very good solution and far better than vent based holders.
