I ordered 2 trays and they arrived separately. First one was fine, the second one had the straight border broke off clean. I didn't want to blame the seller for Amazons lousy packing job or go thru the hassle of returning it, so I got some wood glue and fixed it myself, came out perfect. Can't even tell.

i use japanese dishes on a daily basis for my meals, and having some pretty, appropriate trays for them is a necessity. of course, any tray would do, but i like these half-moon shaped ones for the traditional look. i had some in the plastic lacquerware, but really wanted one in a simple, natural wood. this one is perfect: it is attractive real wood, with a very pretty grain. it's exactly the right size for a full meal for one. it's seasonless and matches with anything. it's easy to clean and looks good enough to store visibly. i am extremely pleased with its appearance, performance thus far after many months of daily use, and value for money. i would suggest that buyers understand it should be wiped clean gently after use and meticulously dried in order to preserve the finish and prevent any warping. a few moments of care will ensure this lovely tray is around for the long haul. treat it as one would fine real lacquerware and it should be fine.

I ordered e medium tray. It fits my lap perfectly and is just large enough to hold a dinner plate or a bowl of soup/ramen and a drink. If you flip it over, it makes a nice writing surface or place to sit your tablet to watch videos. It’s lightweight and the wood color is very nice. It also looks nice as a placemat on a table, although the medium won’t hold more than a 10” dinner plate. A very nice tray for the price.
