TIGER MCA42-BK Desktop Boom Microphone Stand - Weighted Round Base - Black

It does the job at a fair price
Its a mic stand(!) and with a reasonably quality for the price.Using it to hold an outside kick drum mic (Shure Beta 52A) and having a round base makes it easier to position than a small three legged one. The base is just about heavy enough to balance the weight of the mic with a useable boom extension.Would I buy it again? - Yes.

Bottom-heavy? Nah. (Now where have I heard that before...?)
Good, I've got your attention. Number 1: the base isn't that heavy - which might make you think oh, that's alright because it'll produce less emissions in transit or whatever. Well I say, that's all good - but if it's gonna keep tipping over, I don't mind a little bit more CO2 bouncing around because now I have to find something to weigh it down and that means buying more stuff off Amazon and even more CO2 emissions!Number 2: if you've got a simple, light, plasticky, unexciting microphone, you'll be fine - but if not, like me, it'll be hell!So what do I suggest? Find a better mic stand. "But what if I've got a tiddly little microphone?" I hear you ask. Well, get it then, I don't care. But do you really wanna spend ~£20 on a mic stand? You might get an upgrade - and then what? Off to the beach to fill those sandbags.tl;drBUY if you want a fairly nice looking stand and have a light microphoneDON'T BUY if you have a heavier microphone (which, let's face it, you probably do have)

Nice little mic stand for personal use
Good reasonable quality low level mic stand with steel and plastic contstruction/parts engineered to areasonable quality. Fairly robust and should withstand the rigours of stage/studio use with care. It is not a product which can be abused and therefore not fully professional. Neither is the price. It is pretty small and folds down reasonably well to under 18inches. I would not describe this as a desktop mic stand - because it isn'tProduct purchased to mic guitar cabinet in the studio and for mounting handheld field recorder outside. The product suits me well for both those purposes. It is fairly light weight but can carry the weight of my field recorder, or an SM57 or, large diameter condenser with shock mount without falling over.CAUTION:- This product will not carry any microphone into close proximity of the inside (beater) skin of a kick drum as the boom arm extends only about 13inches from the centre support.

Not bad.
I bought this to support my Samson Mic and shock-mount. I wanted a desktop stand that would place the mic high enough for me to use (because the other stands looked too short). It does the job and looks sturdy enough.if I keep the boom at a short length it's ok but it's only just heavy enough (i.e. if I knocked it, the mic would topple over, easily). The base is good and solid and heavy but if you're thinking of attaching a heavy decent-quality mic to it, like the C01U you will probably find that the base just isn't heavy enough to use the boom at full extension. For it's price and for my needs, it's fine. Not amazing but probably the best one in this price range. You could probably fix it by sliding some old weights on to the base - from a dumbbell or something.

Good stand for the right microphone.
Nice and sturdy desktop mic stand. The only downside is they have virtually no noise dampening. So they transmit noise from the tabletop direçt to the mic. Certainly worth the money but not suitable for any microphones where handling noise could be an issue.

Won’t support an average weighted mic
I’m Shure it will support maybe an SM58 or similar, but my Aston Spirit is only stable when either upright or when the mic is right next to the stand. Pretty useless for what I needed it for.I’m sure I’ll find another use for it. Would make a good door stop.
