Aretha Franklin's Gospel Greats 1999 album are songs that were originally released as a double LP in 1972, Amazing Grace cracked the Billboard Top Ten upon it's release, making it one of the bestselling gospel records of all time. Grace was recorded in a large Baptist church with aultraenthusiastic, loving audience in the pews and a full, funky, band as well as the Southern California Community Choir under the direction of her mentor Rev. James Cleveland. Her voice is melismatic and intensely emotional, yet pure and controlled-as if she were directly channeling the Holy Ghost. Aretha's father, the brilliant preacher Rev. C.L. Franklin, makes a brief, proud appearance, remarking how "she has never left the church!" Recorded live at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Los Angeles, California. Fantastic album, Aretha Franklin captures the gospel song in a way that you feel closer to god. She has a fabulous voice that you can listen to all day long.

NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING BUT OK. WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO IT MORE TO SEE IF IT GROWS ON ME BUT IT IS ALL DOWN TO PERSONAL TASTE . TASTE AND SEE .

Quand j'entends "Precious Memories" interprété par Aretha Franklin gravé sur ce disque aux dix fameux titres, je me dis ce n'est pas possible elle vit encore dans notre salon... Née à Memphis pour mourir à Détroit... je me dis Lady du Soul ou mother du Gospel peu importe. Ses longues notes expirées resterons toujours dans nos cœurs et nos discothèques. Sur ce disque vous trouverez ce merveilleux morceau traditionnel de grande envergure que nous avons chanté nous aussi mais ! Des CD avec ce "Great Gospel" si nous en possédons beaucoup, mais notre préférence ira toujours vers ce disque et la voix de "Lady Soul" . Nous ne pouvons pas dire qu'elle manquait de souffle "Lady Soul" mais l'Aretha en avait encore plus dans ces "Amazing Grace" dont nous ne connaissons pas vraiment, vraiment, l'origine. Ce disque cinq chants traditionnels et cinq autres titres de compositeurs connus . Mais j'allais écrire "enthousiasme" pour le titre " What a Friend We Have In Jesus" de Fryson, cela va de soit ! Tout comme "Precious Memories"ou encore "Give Yourself to Jesus". Ces chants ont été enregistrés à Los Angeles. Faites comme moi, il vous le faut mais prenez soin d'en avoir toujours un double car si nous le prêtons... il ne revient que très rarement.. Mais je ne vois là aucune malhonnêteté car il est trés difficile de s'en défaire. L'un des plus beaux disques de Aretha Franklin.

I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT ARETHA'S BEST SELLING CD, WAS ENTITLED AMAZING GRACE. THIS NOT THAT CD, BUT IT HAS ALOT OF SONGS ON THIS CD THAT ARE ON THAT ONE. THIS CD HAS A GREAT LOW PRICE, GET THIS ONE. ALL THE SONGS ARE GOOD & EASY TO SING ALONG TOO! I HAVE PURCHASED 5 TO GIVE TO FRIENDS.
