Lonely Planet Sri Lanka (Travel Guide) Paperback – 16 Jan. 2015

Finding the right guide book for my daughter was tricky. I needed one that gave the sort of advice that was really practical yet did not stint on descriptions of the key areas. The Lonely Planet guides give all the essential details for anyone who is looking to travel away from the tour groups. I was so impressed that they dealt with issues relating to the availability of personal hygiene products, keeping safe as well as details on the cultural and tourist high spots. A must for the confirmed traveller.

Another good quality book from lonely planet. Bought for my upcoming holiday to Sri Lanka. I find these books very useful for city maps and information on transport links between cities.In my experience the hotel reviews are not overly accurate and in the past we have gone to hotels based on the glowing review in our LP guide book only to find it atrocious.This will also make a perfect addition to the bookshelf, showing off our well travelledness!

I read the reviews about the previous poor edition and so did lonely planet!!This is back to the great standard of lonely planetism and is as good as it gets. Good suggestions for people on a time restraint. Colourful and broken down into simple sections that are clearly written. Yet to use it when I get there but never had an issue with a lonely planet (used quiet a few). Can't wait to hit Sri Lanka in the summer@rollonitsalltooexciting!!!!

I bought this book to read up on Sri Lanka before visiting for my honeymoon. This is an excellent guide, it provides information on just about everything you can think of, from restaurants, prices for public transport and tours, currency, the culture and language as well as recommended tourist attractions. i would highly recommend this book

Bought this for my dad, he insists on having travel guides before traveling anywhere (seems to add to his experience) and he chose this one so it must be pretty good. He's read most of it and his thoughts are that it's not his favourite travel guide ever, but what it lacks in info it makes up for in being bang up to date!

Really happy with this travel guide. Lots of great information that I found useful when planning my holiday. However, time will tell how accurate the information is to date as I have yet to visit Sri Lanka to be able to compare !

I am using this at the moment whilst in SL and am not as impressed with LP as I normally am.I appreciate it is the high season now. ..but even so, quite a lot of prices are incorrect already I.e Uda Walawe national park entry price.I have found other versions of LP a bit more intuitive. .. As not many people have time to read the whole book.Certain things are hard to find, I.e the key to show what represents train routes and lines (not on the maps and not linked to the index references). Also for example, Saskia Fernando art gallery in Colombo. It gets a lengthy mention but then is only loosely linked to an area on the map, so you would have to walk along the street looking or check Google maps (after you have re read the book for ten minutes to rule out reader error!).Have I missed something. .. But I was surprised by the sometimes numerous high end options on accommodation too!Have LP readers started seriously splashing out?Having said all this. . It is still the best guide I feel is available.

It arrived quickly and has loads of great info. I have always used Lonely Planet travel guides in the past and I am not disappointed with this very informative guide. When I get to Sri Lanka I will find out how good it really is.
