Such a Fantastic Series
I've loved every book in this series and this one is no exception. Antonio was sired by Xavier and never wanted his own territory. Until the time they were headed to Spain and crossed the border of Portugal. That particular Lord took exception and forced a fight. Antonio stayed to take care of the matter and ended up Lord of Portugal. Rachel was raised to be an assassin for The Society. Her mother headed the group and when Rachel was five she was left on her own. She hated her mother and hated The Society but she was damn good at her job. Until she was ordered to assassinate Antonio. She poses as a language interpreter to gain access but finds herself strangely attracted to her target and for the first time discovers she can't complete the assignment. As the story unfolds Rachel and Antonio end up in danger and dealing with betrayals but still manage to find their happy ever after. Excellent reading.

A little different but very good
This book is a little different in that we get all the main characters history up front instead of flashbacks like in previous books. Antonio and Rachel don't meet right away so that had to build up. I enjoyed the book and the characters were likeable.

Awesome Read!
Anything D. B. Reynolds and I am there! I love her style of writing! And this book doesn't disappoint! I love the chemistry between Antonio and Rachel. For Rachel to be human, she is something fierce! Antonio was awesome as well! I have to say that her, Rachel's, mother was wrong with what she did to her daughter, but I must say, she got what she deserved! I do believe that everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I definitely did and because of it, I recommend this book/series!

Good characters
I enjoyed the main characters and their relationship. The story had enough action to stay interesting. I know she is leading up to the next book at the end, but as I haven't read all the books prior it was confusing.

Padded text, but in the end a good story
I've been waiting for an addition to this series. The Vampire Lord of Portugal successfully blocks an attempt to take over his territory from a second from Germany, with the help of a woman assassin sent to kill him.I gave this one three stars because the author padded this installment with repeats of the same descriptions and backgrounds. We heard time after time how Lord Antonio was a reluctant Lord because he just happened to kill the former Lord 200 years prior. We heard over and over how Rachel was treated by her mother, and details of her training. Lady Ingeborg who only wanted to be called Lady Inge. If you took out all of that repeated material and cut out pages of unnecessary inner dialogue we had to read through, this would have been a novella. Short, to the point, with lots of drama, intrigue, romance, and fighting. This was a weak addition to the series.

An Amazing Series
This author creates stories which you hate to see end and can’t wait for the next book. I rarely read a series more than once, yet I have lost count of the number of times I’ve read the entire series. Each book is that great! An assassin, a handsome vampire lord, and a backstabbing plot …. Did I forget to mention the handsome vampire just happens to be the target of the assassin?18+

Very Enjoyable once they interacted
A good read. Not my favorite of this series but fun, especially after Antonio and Rachel met.Too much time leading up to the meet, but I understand the importance of character development. Will read again at a later date to see how much I truly appreciate their story.

Another hit!
I have purchased and read every single book in this series. The author is incredibly talented. There are many surprises, twists and turns. I enjoyed this novel immensely. Not to beat a dead horse, I reiterate my request for this author to create a novel in this series with gay characters, maybe Gay leading characters. Thank you.

A potentially good book, downgraded solely due to very shoddy editing
This is the latest book in a very good series and the author has made every effort to avoid a stereotyped story line. It’s approaches the meeting between the main characters in an entirely different fashion to previous books.Unfortunately the editing is dreadful, whoever did the proof reading was having a very “off” day. This really spoils the flow of the book.Parts of the book were difficult to engage with as a result and the chemistry between the principal characters didn’t always seem natural.Despite this I’m glad I read it and will continue on when the next book hits my kindle…..hopefully after proper revisions are successfully completed.

Loved this latest instalment
I loved this latest instalment of this seriesWhat I especially enjoyed was the background and story building in the first half of this book meaning that when the two main characters met they were mainly fleshed out which was a refreshing change from the majority of books in this genre when it's either love at first sight in the first chapter of a similar scenario and variation of the themeI thought Rachel was perfect for Antonio, really enjoyed this story and have no complaints which is rare lolAs always my advice is to start with the first book in this series as they follow on from each other and follow a timeline so your enjoyment of this latest book will be greatly enhancedEnjoy 😉

Disappointing
I love this series but am seriously disappointed with this book. Rachael was hard to like. She kills people because she is told to by an organisation she doesn’t respect, but doesn’t question why. Essentially she is a wind up killer. The “Society” tells her to kill someone and off she goes, no questions asked. Her plans on how to kill Antonio are weak and improbable and there are continuity gaps in the story. Rachael and Antonio went from never having spoken to each other to hot sex and in love in the space of one night. There is no way a vampire lord who has survived 300+ years would invite some woman he is suspicious of and has only just met to his safe space. He takes her word for the fact that she is a skilled assassin even though he knows she isn’t telling the truth and trusts her to watch his back in a fight. Come on…. He didn’t survive that long by thinking with the small head.
