Thailand: The Cookbook

I bought this as a Christmas present after the recipient went to Thailand. When it was delivered it was a bigger book than I expected but absolutely packed with recipes. It was very well received and they've made several recipes already! It certainly was a talking point at Christmas due to some of the more authentic recipes needing ingredients such as ants and crickets!

A thing of joy; an absolute work of art. Am chuffed to own a copy.

This is a beautiful cookbook with a death of great Thai recipes. Tantalising images adorn the pages - it's just a shame that there are so many recipes that there isn't room for every one to have a picture!

Great book. Looks good too. Would recommend as a purchase for lovers of Thai food. Plenty of variety of dishes

What a lovley book I have purchased, a true reflection of a country and its food. It also reflects the countries regional tastes and recipes whist traveling from North to South and all I between. Its not just a great cook book it's a great reflection of a whole nation depicted by food. I will be trying some recipes from this book, and I would reccomend to anyone who has not only an interest in the country but an interest in its food.The only this I would say to its detriment is that it doesn't come with a dust cover. It is such a beautiful book, that if you use in the kitchen it will get spotted with whatever you are making. So I will make up my own to keep the book clean and splash free.

Authentic, thoroughly-researched and detailed, it's full of regional dishes. Around 380 Thai cooks are named as contributors of traditional recipes. This goes next to David Thompson's Aharn Thai as a must-have Thai cookbook, and a labour of love.

This book is beautifully bound and presented which offers the first clue to the quality of this tomb.The recipes are comprehensive and well presented. Others have commented about the need for more pictures; I would have to disagree as the book gives you enough background and knowledge of how the ingredients look.I considered other similar books but did not want 100 pages of someone's travel history, no matter how interesting.We just don't get books of this quality for European quisine.The perfect 10/10.

Great Thai cookbook. Gives alternatives that can be substituted in place of Thai ingredients that can be sourced readily.

Parfait! Nous vivons dans une ville où il est possible de trouver plusieurs ingrédients et des substitutions aux ingrédients plus spécifiques au pays. Nous avons essayé quelques recettes et c’est comme si nous étions au resto. Je recommande à 100%. Je regarde maintenant pour d’autres livres sur d’autres pays de la même maison d’édition . C’est presque devenue une obsession d’acheter d’autres livres tellement je constate que les éditeurs sont soucieux de publier des recettes authentiques . Bref, n’hésitez pas plus longtemps!

Beautiful book with very good and a lot of recipes. Not recommended for vegetarians as most of the recipes are with fish or meat

I've been collecting Phaidon's cookbooks based on different countries' cultural cuisines, and this book is no exception. There's a lot of information to read within without being distracting to the recipes, but please read the prefaces and introductions. The information on these pages do explain why they collected certain recipes and not others. There are recipes I doubt I'll find elsewhere because they sought them out with the help of the locals. Pretty much all the ingredients are readily available via local Asian grocers and online stores, including Amazon and ImportFoods.
