Heavy Duty 5 LINE RETACTABLE Washing LINE

I think it would help to make it very clear that this product is no longer in the bright blue colour shown in the pictures and mentioned in some reviews. It put me off buying one for weeks. I even mailed the seller to ask if they planned on changing the colour, they replied to say there were no plans to change the colour, didn't mention it had already changed ? Eventually I placed an order with plans to spray it white. I was more than happy when it arrived to find painting would not be neccesary. Although I have not fitted it yet as it is going to my house in Spain, it appears to be very well made and robust. It will subjected to the sea air in Spain so I am hoping it will stand the test of time. It would appear to be the best product of its type.

I ordered 2 of these units and they arrived a few days ago, we mounted them side by side on the wall the following day. What a great washing line this is. I only have a small space, between two walls, to put up a line and these with 5 lines each that I can adjust the length of the lines is perfect. They give me more washing line space than I had before with my previous system of 7 lines which were not retractable but which were a lenght of normal wasing line cord zig zagged across from one wall to other and attached to hooks in the wall, they were fixed at one height, just above my head. They would get very dirty and needed wiping clean each time before pùtting washing on them. Now with these lines that retract into their casing I have nice clean lines each time I pull them out to use. It all looks very neat and tidy when these lines are retracted into their casing. Many years ago I had a retractable line in a flimsy plasitc casing and very thin cord for the 4 lines. Whenever I put a lot of washing on the lines they would sag so that the sheets and bath towels would touch the ground if I wasn't careful when pegging them. After about a year of use two of the lnes snapped and the thing became useless. With luck these new Heavy Duty units will last longer than that and won't sag with the weight of large items of washing. Some reviewers have commented on the grey plastic bar that slides out across the lines when all 5 lines are in use, and how that bar got in the way. I solved this problem by putting the bar back in it's place against the casing and using the tightest fitting clothes peg I could find, I turned the peg upside down and pegged it onto one of the lines in that upside down direction, from the underside of the line up. I pushed the peg as far upwards as possible,almost up to the spring of the peg where the gap between the two parts of the peg are at their narrowest so that the peg would not slip. I made sure the peg was as close as possible to the base of the line where it comes out of the casing, hoding the bar in place. I had 5 lines full of washing today on each of my 2 units and neither bar budged at all. You only need one peg on one of the 5 lines to stop that bar moving if you get the peg on as tightly as possible and as close to the casing as you can. Hope this helps others with this annoying little problem.

This is the best indoor line I have had in over 40 years. It is quite heavy but very well constructed and very firm when fixed in place. I especially like the fact that the lines are coated in plastic, so easier to keep clean and fluff won't accumulate on them - previous lines ended up looking like they were covered in flies! I'm very pleased with this and it was well worth paying the extra money for the quality and seeming durability.

A brilliant concept that's let down by poor-quality components. First, the casing is mostly plastic, and not really substantial enough for the weight of the (heavy) internal parts and fixing bolts. In particular, the tensioning handle feels as though it's about to give way under the load when one turns it to tighten the lines. However, that's not the first thing that failed after eight months of use. It was the washing lines themselves, which are not replaceable. The lines quickly develop permanent kinks in the places where they are kept taught by the internal mechanism. This happens after only one or two uses and makes them annoyingly difficult to retract as they keep catching. Eventually, the kinks become deep grooves, with the metal parts eating away at the line until it breaks. A washing line is useless if you can't hang a superkingsize duvet cover or several towels on it. Yes, wet laundry is heavy. That's why I got a "heavy-duty" washing line. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to its description. Save your money and install separate lines with screw eyes at one end and turnbuckle screws at the other end to adjust the tension. At least this way, if a line fails you can replace it.

Delivered efficiently at a competitive price. The cassette that holds the five retractable lines is neat,tidy, reasonable unobtrusive and easy to install.This is my second purchase of this product, I was very please with the first purchase for 14 months, at this point the retraction mechanism on two of the lines became ineffective which was disappointing.Having said that, I was impressed enough during the 14 months use that I did have to purchase another in the hope that the retraction mechanism will last beyond 14months

This is well made, the plastic is durable.You can have all the lines out or individual ones out, It is quite big but very good quality. I put it up in my conservatory, have used it 4 days running. You can fit 2 loads of washing on it. The line can be made taunt by turning the handle. I really love this product,saves energy by not using the tumble drier.

We use this in our utility room and it has been brilliant. Although it seemed quite expensive at the time, it has supported sheets (fully open so they dry quicker as long cables) plus heavy towels etc. We also hang shirts and tops on hangers from the cables. It's worth investing in this rather than the cheaper Minky versions which my parents had and sagged easily with minimal weight of clothes. Highly recommend.

Very easy to put up on an outside wall using the supplied fixings and then it's just a question of making a suitable pole at the other end to receive the hooks, these can be up to 7 metres a way, so you get a lot of line / drying space if you need it. It works very well in my property.Would I recommend it? Yes.
