Sonic Youth at their most accessible
I first saw Sonic Youth in London in the 80's, all amazing clashing guitars and a bass driven, percussive mahem; which somehow contrived to get under your skin and rock your soul. Unfortunately, a lot of people didn't get it straight away. Also saw, Flipper, The incredible Pixies, the Buthole Surfers, Flipper and Dinasoaur jr.,Pere ubu, Husker Du and others of that ilk at around the same time - all of who seemed to steadily gain a progressing following in the UK- But I still know a lot of people who got into these bands (well maybe not Husker Du ! ) , but still didn't get Sonic Youth. As with most bands, not all their tracks are brilliant, but some really shine. I suggest peeps should listen to Hits are for Squares and then revisit the early stuff, as they are a class act and were truly sonic innovators, even if their live sets were not exactly demonstrative, they sounded amazing !

Album band, not hits band
This is not a best of in the traditional sense, it has celeb chosen tracks and therefore is rather esoteric in its nature.Yes, some of the big hitters are here but its more of a playlist than a best of.You might be better off exploring the albums, you cannot go wrong starting off with either Dirty or Goo
