Bought for 'power cuts and emergencies' .. but it is such a lovely lamp that it is sitting on the hearth in the lounge! Yes it could be ideal for camping use or anywhere outside - but the quality of it deserves to be on show in a home setting. It is a really good size, a lovely silver/pewter colour, and it is sturdy and very well made. The light is very powerful and the brightness controlled by turning the little knob on the lamp front - giving the option of a variety of brightness levels. AND - a fabulously low price! Such value for money - plus a speedy delivery; we are delighted and would recommend this product 100%

What a decent and attractive little lamp! I wanted something that could be used in a few possible scenarios, from on the garden table at night to cast a little light, or hanging from a tree branch, (wouldn't leave it outside in rainy/windy weather). Ambient lighting for a darker corner of a room, using as a porch/shed light were there is no main lighting, or having by the bed for those midnight trips to the loo... (or fridge, lol) without having to put the house lights on as it gives plenty of light to see where you're going. Even as simply a nice 'ornament' it fits the bill. The design of this is just like the original oil lamps but the 'modern' upgrade using LEDs means zero hassle to get it to work. There is a simple twist knob on the front/back, which when gently turned switches the lamp on, the more you turn it the brighter the light goes, likewise turn it back and it dims. The knob clicks when it reaches the on and off position. The LED's provide a cool white light, so not like your usual/older style warm yellowy toned light bulbs. Its not an unpleasant or overly harsh illumination. Dependent on your requirements it could be ideal, not sure it'd work as a total replacement for every day electric lamps though, which give off a wider exposure of light in a room. Saying that, for a power cut this could really be useful. The silvery metallic toned lamp is lightweight, though doesn't feel overly flimsy. Size wise 11" high x 6" at its widest point. There's a useful slim carry handle which drops down when not in use, the smaller one on the lid is more for decoration. It's an attractive little lamp that is also practical It came with 4 AA batteries included so worked straight from the box. Time will tell how long those will last which I guess is dependent on whether you leave it on for sustained periods rather than just using it as and when needed. Value for money. In all I would recommend.

I wasn't sure what to expect. Reviews were mixed. But I liked the look of these classic-style storm lanterns for camping, so I gave it a punt. For a tenner, why not? I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. Not bowled over, amazed, mind you, just pleasantly surprised. The lantern is quite light, and has a thin tinny sound when you pick it up and move it (much like camping pots and pans). The knob on the side is easy to grip and turn, and provides OFF as well as basic brightness to a medium brightness. It doesn't, however do a very low level of brightness, like a nightlight... The basic brightness level is still quite bright, so not great for kids who need a nightlight to sleep by. Hanging up in a (optimistically named) 4-man dome tent, you can JUST about read a book or a map with it, but if you spend too long you'll get eyestrain. I used it to read a book to the kids before bedtime, but the type is quite large, so wasn't too much of a problem. The kids, however, couldn't really see the pictures too well. If you're not trying to make out small print, however, the lamp is plenty bright enough to get changed by, to eat by, or to pack / unpack by. The lamp looks nice, hangs nicely, and provides enough light to get ready for bed by, so I'm pleasantly surprised. If you're looking for something you can easily read by, or will attract insects away from you, or light up a larger table / tent, then look elsewhere. If you're getting three or four of these as camp mood lighting around the edge of the eating area, or for lowe level illumination inside the tent, they're quite nice.

Excellent for camping no fuel to carry around, all you would need is spare rechargeable batteries and a hand charger, you won’t have to worry if it’s knocked over and it definitely wind proof, easy to dim for night , great product and a very good price

really lovely light, im doing an old army camp, (long story) and this works perfectly,i couldnt get over how bright it was,wow,,,, i had to turn it down,,, which you can do using the knob, you can have it very low or very high, and also hang it anywhere,,, brilliant,,

This lamp is fab, I'm so impressed by it. It comes with batteries and turns on with a dimmer switch so you can gradually increase the brightness of the lamp. I got it for camping and think it'll be great in the tent at night, to put on a dim light and avoid waking up our little ones. It's also very light and portable, great to carry about where it's needed. I love that it's a replica of a traditional camping lamp, it's a bit more atmospheric than a modern lamp despite the LEDs. The lamp actually can be turned up to create quite a bright light, illuminating a wide area. I wish we'd had this lamp last time we have a power cut - it would have created more than enough light to play board games or read. Much safer and more portable than candles, which didn't actually produce much light. Really recommend it - super value for money.

This is a very attractive old style hurricane lamp, cleverly adapted to look just like the paraffin versions. I bought it to use as a table top lamp for evening drinks/barbeques, but it's not really suitable. The intensely bright white LEDs don't actually shed any real overall illumination - rather, it's like looking directly at a bright torch. The neatly designed on/off switch - looks like the paraffin filler cap - doubles up as a dimmer switch - pointless and makes little difference. Overall, a good idea but it doesn't deliver.

Très bien pour dépanner. J'habite à la campagne et les coupures d'électricité peuvent durer plusieurs heures et une lampe de poche ou des bougies ce n'est pas suffisant. Cette lampe tempête est très bien. Je pense en racheter une deuxième.

J'ai acheté cette lampe pour ma cave et c'est idéal. Bon rapport qualité prix.
