Works great, but be careful not to force down on the neck of the heating rod. As not to break it.

Excellent set of wax blocks for wood repairs
I bought this only for the set of wax blocks; I haven't tried the heater since I find it more convenient to use a low-temperature soldering iron to melt the wax. I used it to fill cracks and holes in raw wood before applying a finish. This set of wax blocks has enough different colors to match almost any wood. Blending different colors along a crack can result in a very realistic match to the wood. I have experience with only one other maker of wax fillers, but the wax in this set is harder and in most respects better. This is a great product for touching up minor defects, even in high-end furniture.
