After buying other “universal” car mounts for my HP Stream tablet, I returned to the reputable and well known name that is Targus to get a solution that would actually work. The unit is very well designed and made and consists of a top clasp and a base, connected by two sturdy metal wires. This gives great flexibility in the size of device it will hold as you simply need to extend the wires to any required dimension and just tighten appropriately.We’ve clipped this to the back of our car seat and it sits at a perfect height/angle. Releasing the unit is as simple as pulling the ‘twister’ to release the tension and pulling the device out.Our tablet fastens securely both with and without its case on.Overall, for the money, we’re delighted with the purchase.

My 2 and 3 year olds had started to fight so much on longer journeys that it was distracting me from driving safely. Since starting to use the iPad with this mount, peace has been restored! My kids are in extended rear facing car seats, so I have the mount strapped around the rear armrest (in the folded up position), but would fit around headrest equally well. The mechanism for releasing / tightening in around the device is easy to work (pull the button out and lengthen the strings to inset the device, then push the button in and twist to tighten in the strings again to secure the device), holds the device securely, and doesn't seem like it would break easily, as the strings are fine but strong. Used with an iPad2, but could be used with a considerably larger device. Unlike others I didn't have to remove the cover from the iPad to use it, but then it's quite a thin cover.

sort of works for sports seats but not very stable

Sturdy and easy to fit, great if you have chunky head rest poles like we do in our car, lots wouldn’t fit but this is perfect and easy to adjust accordingly to the size you need

They design is good apart from 2 key issues. It straps tight to the rear of the chair and in doing so follows the angle of the headrest. This may not be suitable for viewing so I found I had to position cardboard between the device and headrest to set the viewing position.The main issue is the push / pull mechanism that locks or releases the tension. This pulled clean off of its mount within 24hrs and required gluing back in place.It’s not a bad bit of kit, but it’s now without its design flaws

Very good product, easy to fit to the car and easy to fit the tablet and remove after use. Fit it snuggly and sensibly and you won't have any issues with it losing position during a journey.The only real downside is the mounting clamp, which is on wire. If you don't wind the wire in when not in use, over time the clamp will flop around while the car is moving and the wire snapped on my first mount. That being said, I bought it again and am keeping the clamp wound in when not in use.

Had one of these before and lost it, I find it secures the ipad to the car headrest really well. Had a few other ones and didn't like how loose it held the ipad against the seat.Only marked it down by 1 start because I'd like the slots to fit the actual holder the ipad is already in. I am probably asking for too much but its a pain taking ipad out of its case! maybe I need to get a smaller case for it?**I upgraded to 5 stars. I simply bought a new case for the ipad, the previous one was cumbersome anyway. I now have two of these holders as I found the "lost"one, so have one in each of our cars.**

Because this uses a strap rather than a clip it gives a little more leway. We actually have it attached with a mirror attached above with both on the same head rest stems as the car seat is rear facing. Non stop Bing for a toddler on a trip up north. It also worked fine with my 7" Linx tablet which was too small for another bracket I had to return. I'm not too sure about the wire which extends the holder keeping the tablet in the bracket. Time will tell how resilient it is although the design does make it very easy to remove the tablet without having to remove the bracket first when you stop at the services for a vastly overpriced coffee and doughnut.
