An excellent product and amazing value - other active digital/analog convertors are 2-3 times the price. Pay no attention to the active/passive discussion in the Q&As. This is 100% active with the RTD2166 chipset. It is what is required to connect a DP (not DP++) outlet to a VGA monitor.

FINALLY a DP to VGA that actually works, wish I knew about this before as I had an older monitor sitting there collecting dust. It connects perfectly and the cable quality is really good. I don't have any sound on my monitor so I cant check the sound quality. It feels really durable and doesn't feel like it'll break on me anytime soon. Also try not to break your DP port by trying to pull it without pressing on the little release button it has, it took me a moment to realise that </3

It does what it says on the tin - allowed me to connect to an older projector for an event I was taking part in. It allows you to connect to/use a VGA device (often a projector or a spare display screen) when your own laptop only has Displayport ports.

I ordered this because I like double monitors, and my computer only had display ports, but my second monitor was VGA. Wasn't sure it would work out exactly, but it is, and is great, for the cost of this, I didn't have to get a new monitor. WIN!!! Plug and GO. Picture is good, can see no difference.
