The light is sooooo bright!
So I love most of my hugger equipment, but this piece was not one of them. Although it does the job as expected too and kept my tank at a consistent temperature, the lights were just too bright inside the tank. I try to make sure that my fish have quiet and dark at night, because lets face it, don't we all need a good nights sleep?? I had purchased this for my 5 gallon betta tank as an upgrade, and considering it consistently heated, and was always spot on for the temperature, it was to some extent an upgrade. The problem lies in that the indicator lights are on the heater itself, and it is incredibly bright. When the temp is low and the heater is running, it looks like the red light district in Amsterdam. When the green indicator light comes on, its like driving through the desert and coming to the only stop light in town at midnight with a new moon and no other lights. when that light turns green it lights up the entire intersection almost blinding you. Call me crazy, but I kind of thought in the long run it would drive my poor little guy crazy. There are other hugger heaters that have the indicator lights on the switch, so if you worry about your aquatic friends sanity, I would purchase one of those.

It heats, suction cups are useless
I put this heater in a 10 gallon I keep in a cooler room. The suction cups came off the glass within a week. It does keep the tank at the temperature I set, based on a floating thermometer in the tank.It is nearly twice the cost of the traditional tube looking heater, so I can't really recommend this. Also, it is more conspicuous - so if you want a heater that is easy to hide this probably isn't it.

Nice heater for my 1 gallon
This is a very nice accurate thermometer. I put this in my 2 gallon Betta tank. My biggest complaint is it’s very big and takes up a lot of space. You can easily set the temp with a push of the button. It shows the current temp and lets you know when it’s heating. Price is fair also.

You'll either love or hate the in-tank display
I am using two 100W heaters to heat my 22G long tank. This Hygger is one of them. The pros:-Accurate thermostat-Strong suction cups-Low profileThe cons:-For me, at least, the temperature display on the heater itself is distracting and ugly. It would be nice to be able to turn it off. Then again, you may think it's super convenient and love it!

50w is perfect for 5-10g aquarium
This item was supplied in exchange for an honest review as part of the Amazon Vine program. This is the third Hygger product I have tried (all others were purchased with my own money) and the brand continues to provide excellent value. Everything I have tried has lasted over a year and I'm hopeful this will do the same. The 50 watt unit installed on a 5g betta tank has kept the temperature at 78f constant as tested over several days with an in-tank floating thermometer and between 77.7 and 78.5 on my IR laser thermometer. This is significantly more stable than the Marina brand 25 watt unit in the tank previously (swings of 2-4 degrees were common depending on the season). We know that temperature stability is one of the best ways to ensure long term fish health and avoid disease pressure.I really appreciate that the unit has a plastic body to keep fish away from the heating element. Classic glass tube heaters don't and fish can accidentally get burned due to scales blocking nerve inputs. The power cord is plenty long, and it's nice that the adjustment button is outside the tank (compared to the adjustment knobs on older style glass tube heaters that require reaching into the water). The unit has a large red digital display showing the temp setting and 2 LEDs red for heating and green for heat off. For folks who want to hide the heaters in their tanks, this unit will need a solid barrier to block it, but for those of us who don't mind seeing the heater it's just fine. One minor complaint is that the adjustment is a single button that just cycles up (range is 59-93f) so if you miss your temp setting (or just want to go one degree lower) you need to hit the button 30'ish times.Overall this is an excellent value at the time of posting ($21.99) and competes really well with other small tank heaters at this price point.

Works well
I've been using this heater for over a month now and it has consistently kept the temps in my 10 gallon tank at 78°. I don't know about you but I've always been skeptical as far as purchasing aquarium heaters. The good reviews usually outnumber the bad the bad ones are sometimes so devastating that it's scary. I ended up testing this heater out in a planted tank with no fish. My plants are certainly grateful and looking much more lively as I hadn't previously been heating the tank. I've also got a stick in thermometer and an in tank thermometer that are both placed on opposite ends of the tank from the heater. One reads 77°F and the other 78°. I've seen them drop a degree or two as temperatures outside went below 0°F but as far as consistency goes, like I said, this heater is really holding up. Plus it's not huge and bulky so it doesn't draw away from the aesthetics of the tank. So far, I really like this heater.

Excellent heater with readable display
This is perfect for my 5 gallon tank. Previously I'd been using one of those thumb-shaped heaters - what bugs me most about those is that the temperature readout is so close to the plug I cannot check it easily. This heater is not that much larger - still compact enough for a nano tank - and has the temperature display built in. It's also accurate, as my spot-testing with a separate thermometer showed. Any hygger is a reliable brand - I have used other of their products and found them to last fairly well.

Perfect
This heater arrived quickly and in minimal packaging. This little heater is perfect. I have a small 2 gallon fish tank in my office with a beta and it gets really cold in my office especially on the weekends which was why i was happy to get this little heater. The devise is perfect, it keeps the water at a comfortable temp for the beta and in all honesty works great.
