Brooks EnglandSwallow, Racing Bike Leather Saddle

I always wanted to purchase a Brooks saddle, but they were beyond my reach. Even if it was a stretch for me, it was well worth it. I love the way the saddle looks and feels.

The saddle is not engineered well, which I guess is consistent with Brook's claim that "The B15 Swallow is a faithful reproduction of a bicycle saddle originally patented by Brooks in 1937 at a time when Brooks Saddles were used by professional cyclists competing in the Tour de France". If you stoped working on your design 87 years ago you miss out on basic advancements like allen bolts.The saddle requires tensioning, and retensioning throughout its lifetime, as the leather stretches, because it's under tension.This wouldn't be so bad, except the only way to tension the saddle is by turning a little but that rides on a threaded bolt that pushes the nose away from the rest of the frame.And that wouldn't be so bad, except for two reasons:reason 1: the wrench that they supply is stamped and not tested. the one I received had to be ground down in order to be able to clear the bracket that the bolt screws in to.reason 2: the bracket does not give enough clearance to turn more than about 10° of an arc at a time, so if the saddle needs significant tensioning, and the wrench does not fit... then you're got a bit of work and cursing to do just to keep your saddle in shape.Both these issues could be easily solved if that tensioning bolt were an allen screw instead. In fact, I may try to replace mine with that and update this review.The saddle has a timeless look and the leather is really cozy when it's tensioned, but if you want a reliable saddle that will just do its job so that you can get to your job (or whatever you do on your bike), you may want to look elsewhere.

Beautiful and comfortable to ride. I won't go with Brooks on a race bike because of the weight, but I will on any bike made for looking at, riding really long distances, or riding for town use. This is on a steel frame Gunnar rebuilt this winter and it is beautiful. It also rides really nicely over distances up to 100 miles, as far as I have ridden it so far.

Wow, quality is simply great. I've used many saddles but this is in a league of its own. The saddle itself is of the highest quality and rides very nice. If you like more of an "old school" look, this is for you. I plan on buying two more for my other machines. This one went on my commuter.

I found this saddle to be comfortable right out of the box. I wish I had this seat on all of my bikes!!

Although I liked this saddle initially, when time came to adjust the tension, the tensioner bolt just spun 'round and 'round--without adjust the saddle tension. The nose piece/bolt design just doesn't work. All 3 of my other Brooks saddles adjust just fine, this model--no go. Too bad because the saddle is really nice.

Twice the weight of a modern saddle, but if you’re buying a Brooks you will already know that. Good quality leather, look after it and it will be your friend for life 🙂

ブルックスのサドルの中にあってはB17よりスポーティなデザインで、使って行くうちに左右が広がらないよう裏側で鉄板とリベットで留められているのは長く使う上でとても良い仕様です！

Evidemment, le caleçon et le pantalon sont bien présents ! Reste que la qualité de fabrication est au RDV et le confort optimal. Seul inconvénient : il est nécessaire d'entretenir ce petit bijou et de le protéger de la pluie !
