50111 Replacement Gas Lift for an Office Chair 11" Black

I've bought several of these over the years to repair/revive tired office chairs. It is my 'go to' replacement.They last about between three and five years of heavy use in my case. 17 stone in weight and long hours.Easy to fit, once you get the old one out. There's a bit of a knack to removing the original and the longer it's been in place the more difficult it is to remove. YouTube offers several useful advice videos.Firm application of a hefty rubber mallet or 7lb lump hammer will usually jar the tapers free. The mallet does less damage.Then simply drop the lower end into the spider base, put the seat on top, (first removing any protective cap which may there., and sit on it to press it all together. No need to hammer anything for this stage.if the intended user is a lighweight child I suggest an adult sits on the seat first to lock it in place.

OVERALL, A GOOD PRODUCT. DID THE JOB ! CHAIR IS NOW NICE AND HIGH. IT WILL DROP SLIGHTLY OVER TIME, BUT JUST RAISE THE SEAT LEVEL AGAIN AND ALL IS GOOD TO GO. I WOULD BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN IF NEEDED. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

I purchased a new chair but the lift it had was very low and I have a quite a high desk so got this as a replacement, these are very simple to fit the problem is getting the old one out of the top part which can be quite a task so I would suggest checking you can remove it first and if not you might be looking at getting a new mechanism for under the chair as well.I have found gas lifts tend to fail after a while and as I spend up to 16 hours a day on my chair and am not the sort of person all you can eat restaurants profit from it will have a good test and if the gas lift fails I will return to the review and adjust it accordingly.

It took me a while to replace the old cylinder, but this morning I decided today was the day. Watched a a video to get the feet off that was easy, but the seat end was tough, got a hammer and spanner to push it out. But once it was done and new one in, I was worried it was going to be short as it travelled more in to the wheels housing. But when I sat on it, and tried lifting the seat a little, and little more I found I could go alot more than original cylinder. Great buy and does more than the label in this case. Might get two more for breakfast bar stools too.

I bought this because the office chair I bought from Amazon (yes, it was not expensive) was too low for my desk, even when fully extended. It seems these gas struts are pretty much standard items, with just the length ( height and extension) being a differentiator. I ordered this to replace the short strut in my original chair.Firstly the service: the replacement strut arrived promptly and well packaged. I am very happy with that.Secondly the gas lift strut itself: fitting was incredibly simple. We just "manhandled" the old strut from the wheeled base at the bottom end, and then removed from the chair at the top. Tip: dont just brute force the top end. The gas strut lever locks the top of the strut to the seat, so depress the lever and removal is easy. Then fitting is the reverse of removal and the job was done. The gas strut is now the correct length. The product seems well built and stable, adjusts properly and has made my office chair usable again.I would not hesitate to order again if I needed this item.

Great replacement for a failed gas lift on an old office chair. Went for the 11 inch version rather than the 9 inch to get a little more leg room and it's turned out to be far more comfortable than the original was. Not difficult to fit once you remove the old one. That was the tricky part for mine as it was well stuck...! WD40 and a big hammer to the rescue.

This was not a like for like replacement as I wanted a replacement gas lift to raise my chair an inch or two higher than the old one because I am quite tall. It was hard to tell for sure from the dimensions provided whether to get an 11” or 9” gas lift because it wasn’t clear how much of the 11” outer cylinder would stick out from the top of the star base once fitted into the socket - in my case it was just under 8” (200mm). The 9” gas lift might well have been OK but I ended up choosing the 11” to make sure I got the extra height. I am the only one that uses it so it doesn’t need to go low. The chair is now much more comfortable for me. The gas lift seems robust and works well - obviously only time will tell if it lasts.Removal of the old gas lift was relatively straightforward - a sharp tap with a hammer using a small block of wood did the trick.

Mido 1,90 aproximadamente y siempre he tenido que sentarme en sillas que son demasiado bajas para mi estatura. Compré este pistón para cambiar el de mi silla gaming Drift y ganar en comodidad y ha sido la mejor decisión que he tomado en años. Ahora la silla, incluso sin estirar nada, es mucho más alta que al principio y extendida completamente ni siquiera llego con los pies al suelo. Por fin puedo sentarme con las rodillas formando un sano ángulo de 90º que no me las deja destrozadas después de largas sesiones de juego.En conclusión: compra 100% recomendada si eres alto (o tienes las piernas largas) y quieres ganar en salud. No te arrepentirás.PD: En Youtube hay vídeos de como cambiar el pistón a casi cualquier silla. ¡Es más fácil de lo que parece inicialmente!

ho preso questo pistone per sostituirne uno oramai scarico, e' molto alto e stabile, per il momento regge bene il mio peso e i miei movimenti, le misure sono quelle elencate in figura, esistono 3 modelli, questo e' il quello con la massima estensione, quasi a livello "sgabello da bar" , io l'ho preso perche' volevo alzare un po' di piu' la sedia, potrebbe andare bene anche la misura intermedia. ATTENZIONE: per togliere il vecchio pistone bastano due o tre martellate ben date col martello di gomma, se pero' non si riesce a togliere la parte alta, quella che va ad incastrarsi sotto la sedia, provare a scaldare la zona con una pistola ad aria calda alla massima potenza, a me ha funzionato

La galère concerne le retrait de l'ancien piston, le produit acheté en lui-même est parfait ! Quel bonheur d'avoir enfin à nouveau un fauteuil de bureau qui ne descend pas petit à petit au rythme des rotations du fauteuil et des déplacements. En plus j'ai remplacé un piston "standard" par ce piston 28 cm qui monte à 52 cm, parfait ! Avant j'étais trop bas et j'avais des douleurs aux genoux après de longues journées de fauteuil, là je peux même le lever tellement que mes pieds ne touchent plus le sol. IDÉAL !La galère la voici : retirer l'ancien piston de l'étoile à roulettes et de l'assise métallique / support du siège. Munissez-vous de dégrippant et arrosez très copieusement le centre de l'étoile (diamètre 5 cm) avec un maillet caoutchouc frappez délicatement sur la base des branches en alternant les branches et en sautant 2 à 3 branches à chaque fois pour essayer de frapper un coup devant un coup derrière (ne pas frapper sur des branches consécutives) ... ça finit par venir ! Pour le support métallique d'assise je l'ai arrosé copieusement, coincé entre deux supports en bois en laissant pendre le piston vers le bas, j'ai positionné une douille métallique (de clé à cliquet) diamètre 12 sur le dessus du piston (pile la bonne taille et n'appuie pas sur le bouton) et j'ai tapé un grand coup très fort sur la douille et le piston a été ejecté. Toutes mes autres tentatives moins violentes préalables (taper avec un marteau sur la couronne du support métallique, entre autres) étaient restées vaines.Voilà, si ça peut vous aider, tant mieux :-)

Es bedurfte vieler harter Schläge, um sie aus Sitzfläche und Gestell herauszzubekommen. Das dürfte in vielen Fällen ein Problem sein, dass man am besten vor der Bestellung versucht, zu lösen. Wenn man die alte Feder nicht herausbekommt, nützt einem die neue auch nichts.
