Well written, very informative. So good, I bought the whole series. Life long product for the whole family.

This little book surprised me when I received it . It is packed with so much information and the coloured photographs are clear and illustrate each species with clarity . I recommend this little book to anyone interested in natural history , or just arachnids .

Love this book, have read it from cover to cover even though I am not a massive spider fan, I could not help but find the types of spiders and facts very interesting, I was amazed at the amount of species that there are.A good little book that tells you enough about the spiders, and which countries you find them in. 10/10

I bought two books about spiders as a Xmas present for my son in law who was visiting from South Africa. He requested them as he is often working in remote parts. One of these was a pocket edition and one was slightly larger with more illustrations. He was very pleased with them - one to fit in his pocket and one with larger illustrations. He now knows which ones to avoid!

I bought this for my grandson and when it arrived I felt disapointed as the book was small in size. However the information that the book contains is excellent and my grandson hasnt put it down and is able to carry it in his pocket all the time.

The Collins Gem Spiders book is very attractively presented, with full colour photos and a clear, descriptive entry for each spider. However, those purchasing in hopes of being able to identify spiders around their home should note that it's not really very useful for each purpose; the photos are evocative but at unhelpful angles that make it difficult to compare different species, and it blends together entries from all over the world. As a one-off gift; very attractive and fascinating. For a hobbyist, not so helpful.

It has basic information and colored pictures for around 200 spices of spiders. Very handy.

Useful book, exactly what i was looking for. Helps to find out what kind of spider is located in your room and if it's dangerous enough to kill with a flamethrower or it's peaceful enough to take it in your hand :)Recomend for those who wanna know better spiders!

micro livret anglophone broché souple récent (2006/1997) consacré aux araignées; après une quinzaine de pages de généralités assez complètes sur les arachnides illustrées de schémas en n&b, l'ouvrage accorde à chacune des 220 espèces sélectionnées de par le monde une page unique avec un commentaire de quelques lignes une fiche d'identité succincte (5 items) le tout surmonté d'une photo couleur qui vue la taille de l'ensemble atteint juste les dimensions d'un grand timbre poste; pas de carte de distribution, bien sûr; hormis le fait que je sois bluffé qu'un si grand nombre d'informations puissent être accumulées en un si petit volume, je me suis toujours demandé à quoi pouvait servir ce genre de guide:soit vous êtes un fondu d'araignées ou un entomologiste chevronné et vous cherchez plutôt une encyclopédie de bibliothèque exhaustiive et de grande taille ou un guide d'identification compact des espèces de votre pays ou continent,soit vous êtes un néophyte passionné de nature et curieux et vous vous tournerez plutôt vers un grand livre d'initiation en couleur ou un guide d'identification compact traitant insectes et arachnides de votre pays;ce miicro guide est captivant par le fait qu'il nous fait découvrir 200 des araignées les plus emblématiques parmi les 38000 espèces connues (plutôt 70000); mais franchement, si vous voyagez de par le monde et que vous cherchez à mettre un nom sur une espèce, il ne vous servira à rien (cherchez plutôt sur internet)

Das Buch ist sehr übersichtlich und hat sehr viele Fotos. Die Beschreibung der einzelnen Tiere ist sehr genau. Das Buchformat ist klein und daher leicht in jede Tasche zu stecken.
