When is a square not a square? When Trend set the butt to arm angle at 89 degrees!
The sole purpose of this tool is to enable angles of 90 degrees to be marked relative to any face of your work piece without fuss. If like me you thought it was a simple concept easy to achieve with modern manufacturing techniques and quality assurance procedures then you may be disappointed!I ordered this product as Trend products seemed generally to get positive reviews and those I've bought seemed well made and had functioned without fault. Foolishly I didn't look at reviews for my latest purchase as I thought it's Trend, it'll be fine. Wrong! The review heading says it all really. If you want to buy this take care and check its accuracy before you use it. Something you shouldn't need to do for something so simple and costing £30+ but better that than messing up your project.I was so annoyed by the inaccurate construction, and more than anything with myself for trusting a brand, that I've taken a few photos so you can see how far it's out.Picture 1 is my 30 year old 6 inch square, still true after all those years of intensive use. Both faces of the butt are parallel. Used to demonstrate the inaccuracy of the Trend square.Picture 2 shows the inaccuracy to the alignment of the face you're supposed to scribe along.Picture 3 shows the bottom edge of the arm and shows clearly that the upper and lower edges converge. Therefore I have to ask, why is there a photo in the listing for this product where the demonstrator is using the bottom edge as a guide to mark a line? Are Trend selling a square with constant depth arm and a tapering depth arm under the same listing or, more likely, the demonstrator hasn't a clue what it is?One degree doesn't sound much but that's around 19mm per metre. Needless to say I've sent this back as defective and hope to get a full refund.

Trend Tufnol Tee square, suitable for woodworking, marking out etc.
This Tee square is good quality, made from Tufnol, a robust and stable material. Trend is a make with a good reputation, not cheap but reliable. Personally I prefer a parallel rather than a tapered shaft, so both edges can be used. But tapered is the way they are normally made.

3mm out of square.
I read the other reviews which said it was out of square, but thought they might have sorted that out by now as people have been saying that for a while. Managed to unscrew it and sort it, but feel like I have to check it's square every time I use it now.Bit annoying that it's one-sided too, so you can only use it one way up, and one side of the blade.Looks nice though.

A square that’s not square
The media could not be loaded. Don’t bother with this. As you can see in the frustrated video I took, it’s not square…

Junk.. 3mm run off
Like the other negative reviews... It runs out exactly 3mm across the span which is beyond ridiculous. I thought it was just mine but after reading the other reviews all saying 3mm it's clear this error is consistent across everyone of these units. If that wasn't bad enough Trend have made this product so poorly that every edge on this square is razor sharp.Utter junk
