Sheaffer100 Series Rollerball Pen - Matte Black

I have this pen in the all chrome and I love it. The VFM series is the BEST feeling pen that I own, and I hate to say that given all of the beautiful pens that I have. This is not the VFM but in the rollerball version the 100 feels great and writes VERY smoothly; the ballpoint is nice if you can take a bigger barrel, but with my hands, and they are not small, it is still too big for me, about the size of the Pilot ballpoint Metropolitan, if you are familiar with that, which is also a great pen, along with all of the other Metropolitans. I digress, but who cares? Don't let the low price fool you. This is a great pen.

The construction is solid and well-made, the roller-ball refill flows well, and the matt black finish is really nice. The problem is that the "designers" have used a slippy chrome finish for the point near the nib where you actually grip the pen. If you hold the pen half-way up on the non-slippy matt black finish you can sense what a great pen this COULD have been if they had concentrated on its actual use. As it is - this is a hand-held monument to poor ergonomics.
