Best Price for a Great Quality Food
This shredded coconut is high quality and has a great taste. At this size you simply cannot beat the price. Its definitely worth it if you use a lot. I love toasting coconut in a pan with some coconut oil or ghee until its a nice light brown color and smells delicious, then putting that on the side of stir fries. You can also use it to make coconut milk, many different baked goods, coconut manna, and I'm sure many other things I've not yet thought of. I'm on an anti inflammatory diet to manage autoimmune disease and this stuff is a great cheap and delicious filler food for those of us who have chosen not to eat grains or beans.Edit: Due to the enormous overnight price jump of this product I will no longer be purchasing it. Let's Do, if you're reading this, please reconsider.

Great product, great price for 112 cups of organic shredded coconut!
I use quite a bit or organic shredded coconut in muesli and in a natural fudge that I make, so I was very happy to find this bulk size on the internet. I save about 40% per pound by buying this through Amazon. For those who are curious just how much shredded coconut is in this bag: a 22 lb. bag contains about 112 cups of uncompacted shredded coconut. Here's how I arrived at this figure: A 22 lb bag contains 352 ounces (22 X 16). I weighed out one cup filled level to the brim of this shredded coconut, which tipped the scales at 3.15 oz. (net wgt, after deducting for the 1 cup container) on my super-accurate EatSmart Precision Digital Kitchen Scale. Do the math, and you arrive at approximately 112 cups (which is 28 qts or 7 gals) in a 22 lb bag. This 22 lb bag definitely isn't as big as a 7 gal container, as the shredded coconut is compacted into probably less than half of that space, which fits nicely in my chest freezer, where I keep it stored. An unopened bag measures approximately 20" tall, 16" wide, and 5 1/2 " deep.

BIG Bag of Coconut...
This was my 2nd order of coconut from Let's Do Organic. After my initial 8lb box had been devoured, I thought I'd graduate to the big leagues and taken advantage of the steep discount associated with the 22lb order (I paid $50.01 through Subscribe & Save).Be prepared: this is a lot of coconut and will require ample storage room in your refrigerator or freezer (the better option of the two).At first I was worried to find an enormous, thick brown paper bag with the brand's label on it. However, do not fear about the freshness of your product at it is sealed in a single airtight bag inside. I like the size and texture of the coconut as it's fine enough to put on dishes or eggs, but not overly so to where it's a powder. It's also a staple in my everyday green smoothie.Overall, expect the exceptional quality and taste just like the smaller packages the company offers.

NOT HAPPY - Very little flavor/taste as if these are already juiced LEFTOVERS
I'm quite disappointed as I committed to such a large bag of shredded coconut which has very little flavor or taste. I trusted the many 5 star reviews this had.I've recently used a different brand generic 1LB shredded coconut from an asian supermarket to make coconut water. It had a strong coconut taste and was a bit oily too. I made one batch from that one and then re-used them to make a second batch of coconut water. I liked it a lot so I went to purchase this 22LB bag thinking it can't be that different right? Nope. Even after re-using the already juiced coconut flakes 2-3 times from another brand, it had a stronger taste than this the coconut flakes juiced ONCE from this 22LB bag. I am not happy about this at all. A 22LB bag is a pretty big bag too. This tastes like the coconut flakes were already juiced AT LEAST once and all that remains are just left overs. It has a subtle coconut taste. I'm sorry but am I misunderstanding something? I'll be glad to change my review if I find that I got this all wrong. Not happy at all about this 22LB of coconut flakes that barely has any taste.

Perfect for the Paleo Life Style
This is the best value I've run into... it is about 40% of the price at the health food store; you really save a lot of $$$. If you're doing paleo, this size is a must. At first we thought it might go bad before we used it up, but found that for two people (+more for holidays!!!), it lasts about 6 months; we store this in a five-gallon food-safe bucket with a gamma-seal lid in our pantry (kept at about 74F during summer months), with no spoilage occurring. We use this for everything: coconut milk, paleo granola bars, thai coconut meat balls, cookies, etc. The coconut milk is really awesome without all of the mandatory extra (e.g., "guar gum") ingredients that are added to even the organic pre-made coconut milk.Update: Sept. 2016...noticed that the price has basically tripled. This has happened previously. WAITING FOR THE PRICE TO RETURN TO NORMAL! :( :( :(

BUG EGGS!?
I just received my first bag of this coconut. It has black specs all throughout the bag. (It comes in a clear plastic bag inside a huge brown paper sack, so I can see all of it once I opened the brown paper.) I'm not sure if they're bug eggs, but I've never had this problem buying the smaller bags of coconut. This would be a 5-star item for the price, but the black specs make it a 2-star.FYI: the size of each piece is ~2mm wide and ~2-5mm long... VERY SMALL. Smaller than sprinkles one would put on ice-cream. Depending on your use, the size might matter. Not good for toasted coconut chips...

It's a LOT of great coconut!
I bought this mammoth bag of shredded coconut to make homemade coconut milk. It has not disappointed! 2 parts boiling water to 1 part coconut in my Vitamix. Turn in on high for 2 minutes and sieve it through a nut milk bag and you've got yourself some amazing milk! Dry out the leftover pulp and zip it in your food processor and you've got coconut flour. Nothing wasted! Such a great quality product. I find myself eating a TBS. of coconut every now and then. The texture is small and goes well in granola or cookies. Make sure you have a food bucket or a place to store the bag because 22 lbs. is a lot!
