Best reel for the price
Handles salt water splash with ease, smooth drag, feels great in the hands, well built and it has a ton of line capacity. I am very happy with this reel - only slight complaint is that it doesn't have a line grip on the spool however, the smaller ones do. I would buy this over a Stradic any day based on the quality to price. Do your maintenance after each use and it will be good to you for years to come.

8 year review of Daiwa BG BG8000 Spinning Reel
I ordered this reel 8 years ago! Ordered on June 21, 2018 Daiwa BG BG8000 Spinning Reel: It is still kicking! A Saltwater beast! Ive caught tons of tarpon, large bull reds, medium sized sharks(around 5 foot mark), VERY large saltwater catfish and all kinds of smaller fish, trout, mackerel(spanish/kings), pompano. blue fish even fresh water red bellied perch! Reel still works like its brand new! Does not take long to reel in these fish either! The ONLY thing i would change is the amount of drag it has, it only has 22Lbs of drag but it gets the job done!! I am glad i gave this name brand a try i am VERY pleased with this Daiwa reel!
