Nothing so easy to build worth every penny 😀

This kit has been about for some years now in a variety of releases and markings, this version has been available since 1998. However, don’t let that put you off, it’s truly superb, with plenty of weapons and fuel tank options, and decals for 3 different aircraft. I guess because it’s been around for a while it’s available at a bargain price, especially when compared to more recently released 1/48 aircraft kits.Probably not ideal as a first kit, because although fairly straight forward, a little experience helps with some of the fiddlier sub-assemblies. The panel line detail is superb and belies the age of the tooling, and everything fits together accurately with very little filler needed. The transparent parts are acceptable, and decals go down nicely, although there’s not much in the way of airframe stencils.There’s plenty of aftermarket products available for this model and endless reference material on the internet, so if you want to go super-detailed you can. Personally, I built my model straight from the box other than adding a seat harness because I didn’t want to have a pilot figure.In conclusion, highly recommended. Oh, and don’t be fooled by the size of the box the kit arrives in, the Skyraider was a big aircraft, and this builds into a hefty model.

Not only is this a great aeroplane, it’s a brilliant kit. Lovely detail and fit with loads of consideration given to the enjoyment of the build. Another banger from Tamiya.

Tamiya's Skyraider is everything you'd hope for from this manufacturer; great moulding (despite the kit's age) and straightforward construction. It's a really nice kit of a classic aircraft. The only thing I can really criticise is the old-style fold-out instruction sheet - a total pain on the workbench compared with a booklet.But I'm really disappointed by the state in which the kit arrived. The order was fulfilled by Amazon and the model kit was "packed" (if you can call it that) in a simple paper bag - so it never stood a chance in transit. Amazingly - and through no fault of Amazon! - the actual kit was intact, despite the box being thoroughly crushed!I won't request a refund, because the kit's still buildable, but Amazon really need to raise their game, because it's hard to believe the delicate kit parts survived in this instance.

Beautiful kit, reasonably priced and fast shipping

This is a model that for some reason I've always wanted to build and I've not been disappointed. The level of detail is excellent and with the weapon stores makes a real eye catcher. If I only have one gripe it's a shame that you don't get the option of folded wing's. Anyway even at 1:48 this is a large model so make sure you have the shelf space. Buy and enjoy!
