Vietnam is the 3rd largest producer of coffee. Trung Nguyen, pronounced, (nwing), is an excellent example of their product. Don't be afraid to try it, as it knocks the spots off of overpriced and overrated brands found on the market.

Delicous Vietnamese coffee; I am hooked on the sachets with coffee creamer (whitener) and sugar/sweetener. If the instant is so good, you can imagine the filter type. Love!

I bought this Trung Nguyen Gourmet Blend out of curiosity after wanting something closer to the coffee I remember from Vietnam, and it largely delivers on that expectation. The grind is well suited to traditional Vietnamese phin filters, where it blooms nicely and produces a thick, aromatic brew. In the cup, it has a noticeably chocolatey profile with a smooth body and a slightly sweet finish, helped by the inclusion of robusta alongside arabica. It also works reasonably well in a cafetière, though the flavour is at its best when brewed slowly rather than rushed. The caffeine hit is stronger than typical supermarket blends, which makes it a good morning coffee rather than an all day option. That said, this is not a purist, single origin experience. The flavour is designed to be approachable rather than complex, and those expecting an intensely distinctive Vietnamese profile may find it a little restrained. Still, for the price and the generous 500g pack size, it offers good value and a satisfying, comforting cup that stands out from standard ground coffees.

When I went to Vietnam I didn't really fall in love with the place. One thing I did adore, however, was their coffee. It has a deeper, sweeter flavour than most of the beans I have acquired over here in the UK and makes, for me, a unique and flavoursome brew. It is best enjoyed in a small, powerful shot using a Vietnamese drip filter and mixed with either condensed milk or egg (honestly, even though it is a pain to get right), but it can also be enjoyed in a cafetiere when used with a more heaped tablespoon. This is my favoured serving method. Although most of the Vietnamese I met sneered at the Trung Nguyen brand, I found that it is my favourite producer from the (admittedly small) sample of choices I managed to try on my travels through the country. Definitely worth a go if you are a coffee lover and fancy something a bit different to the supermarket options we get here in Blighty.

I have used this coffee for years and life it. However in the packaging of my recent purchase it stated it's made with artificial chocolate flavour!

E' una miscela di caffè buonissima , dal profumo di cioccolato, non mi lascia acidità, sicuramente ha un costo più elevato ma li vale tutti.
