Mount Pro - 2.5-inch Drive Sled for mounting a 2.5-inch drive in Mac Pro (2009-2012, "Nehalem" or "Westmere" Models)

I bought a new Samsung 840 EVO SSD this week to replace the system drive in my early 2009 Mac Pro. To install it I also purchased an ICY DOCK converter, which should have allowed me to plug in the drive like any 3.5" drive. However, since the EVO is a 7mm drive (rather than the more standard 9.5mm) the connections would not properly meet. After hours of failed attempts and the drive not showing up on my Mac desktop, I returned the ICY DOCK and ordered an OWC Mount Pro. The Mount Pro arrived first thing this morning. Within a few minutes I had attached the SSD with the included screws and slotted it straight into the drive bay, replacing the original Mac Pro HDD bracket. Now up and running after copying the Macintosh HD over to the SSD with Carbon Copy Cloner and the Mac seems brand new. At least 10 times faster than before. I'd highly recommend this Mount Pro over the ICY DOCK, particularly if you're installing a Samsung SSD in a Mac Pro.

I wanted to improve the boot time of my 2010 Mac Pro. The original WD 1TB HD took 90 seconds to be up and running. Fitting a SanDisk 480 GB SSD into this very high quality build and design caddy has meant that Mountain Lion is up and running in 30 seconds flat! Highly recommended. Quality build and finish, and comes with 4 screws to solidly attach an SSD drive. Slotted into my Mac Pro perfectly.

Once I'd realised that I had to screw my SSD on through the top on one side and through the side on the other, all was good. Perhaps a little overpriced for what it is, but seems happy in its slot.

This is a well made slide in replacement for the standard Mac Pro drive sleds. I have several of these fitted with 3.5" SATA solid state drives (SSD). It provides a reliable way to upgrade from a 5.25 hard drive to an SSD. Note that this model won't fit older MacPro models which use a shorter sled.

I upgraded my 2009 Mac Pro with this. I installed a 500 gb ssd and have seen as massive increase in speed and responsiveness. It's a great way to add years to your machine and very easy to fit. Just screw the ssd onto the sled, remove the apple sled from the machine, slide the new one in and you're done!! All you have to do then is format the drive and migrate your data using the Migration Assistant. Easy. Recommended to the tight of wad.

This product is a must for owners of the Mac Pro. You can mount a solid state drive or conventional Hard Drive (order the appropriate type) and be able to change your drives in seconds, by sliding the sledges in and out. If you wanted to purchase the individual drawers from the Apple Store it would be impossible, as it is nearly impossible to purchase a complete Mac Pro cabinet, as many users have found out. This unit is solidly made from aluminium and finished in anodised blue and takes a short time to mount the drives with the screws provided .

It turns a 2.5 inch into a 3.5 inch drive with little effort and it even includes a complete set of screws (4 for the drive and 4 for the mount). So, although this drive sled is great, it's expensive compared to other options.

Used to install addition SSD drive, worked perfectly great fit.
