Rolson Tools 60390 LED Head Loupe Magnifyer Visor : desertcart.co.uk: Stationery & Office Supplies Review: It's a really good and useful bit of KIT - I'm Sandra's husband the magnifier was purchased for me. It's a really good and useful bit of KIT. I have a 5-5 vision but with my ever growing watch collection, working on them has just got oh so much easier. Lots and lots of uses. The first thing I used them for was to finally remove a splinter that has been annoying me for days now.Comfortable to wear and easy to use. I'm very pleased with the way they work and the variation of lenses. Well, worth the money. One thing...when I first tried to fit the lenses into the headset I had trouble. I couldn't get the lens to say in the holder. Don't panic (Like I did) The two slots in the lens holder in the headset just needed to be rotated 180 degrees until the right angled oblong slots are facing you. Once again, totally satisfied. Wait a minute I've just thought of another use, tying my trout flies. Review: Cheap but usable for the price point if using on an infrequent basis. If using daily, go for something better. - Fairly cheap plastics and would be broken if maltreated pretty easily. However, it works as you'd want, for the most part, and build quality is reflected in the low cost. Personally I'm pretty happy with it, and at that price I'll replace with a second one later on if it does break in a way that can't be fixed. The lens' aren't super high quality, however they serve most general purpose use unless you're someone who would use these professionally such as a jeweller or electronics engineer. However, those folks would buy something higher quality and price-point, so that's probably a moot point. Dropped a star because the switch mechanism that activates the LED light is flimsy and works intermittently straight out of the box. If you're in any way skilled with a soldering iron and the like this can be easily rectified. However, when switching from off to on depending on what I'm using it with, I often have to pause what I'm working on to remove the headband altogether to fiddle with the switch to turn it on. Then put it all back on and get back to what I'm working with. This is an unnecessary quality issue and I've since it fixed it by soldering on a better quality toggle switch.

Who said cheap means rubbish?
This was bought to help me see close detail of tree seeds, seedlings and saplings all with Bonsai in mind, so being able to get a close view is essential. It is not a heavy duty product, the build quality is not mind blowing, the lenses are not Carl Zeiss quality, but for the average person requiring something like this for close work and buying at budget level this shouldn't give you much to moan or gripe about. If you want top end kit you will have to pay top end prices, this however does the job and is robust enough for me in the polytunnel and it gets left around and I've dropped things on it and it is still working fine. It's fairly comfortable for long periods of time, but that is down to your requirements and head shape etc I guess. The lenses do the job but as mentioned already are not precision manufactured lenses but you get a box to keep them in and have enough choices to get a good magnification. The built in light isn't going to stop air traffic or allow you to see that far but is enough to highlight an area you are working on. End of the day it's cheap as chips and works, if you are looking for something that is going to be used day in and day out for hours at a time this may not be for you. For my needs which may be a few hours at a time working on Bonsai trees or seed selection and propagation it's fine. At this price I'd be happy to buy another if it lasts 6 months till I decide I need something of a higher quality and pay the premium that will take to get. I've also used these for building my new PC, reading annoyingly small writing on packets/instructions and a fair few other things so are actually bloody handy for a million and one things, even though the missus mocked me when I first got them as I looked like Mr Goldbloom in Cats & Dogs I've caught her using them once or twice! Rolson do offer a cheap alternative and I buy their kit knowing it's cheap and maybe not built to last a lifetime, but if I think a tool may be handy I'd rather put it to the test without paying the earth to see if I will use it as much as I think or if it is as useful as I imagine, then if it is I'll happily pay more for a more professional tool. Entry level basic items at affordable prices, works for me. Delivered fast also. =]

Just OK for the price
Just OK for the price. The description says comfortable which I did not find to be true. I was hoping the headband was leather. Not the case. It is vinyl or some sort of pliable plastic and sharp edges. After wearing for around a half hour my forehead is sweating under the headband. Which makes it uncomfortable to wear. The Led light is useless. It does put out an ok amount of light but it is a blue light making it totally useless. Why a blue light is beyond me. For me the magnification lenses is why I give it 3 stars. They are very good for my eyes. But I noticed other people complain about them. I guess it all depends on your eyes and you wont know until you try it. I also like the combination you can make with the lens. Bottom line: I would not recommend and I would not buy again for the simple reason 1) Uncomfortable 2) Blue LED light.
