Now, having read through the first 12 books, I'm excited to have "War Lord," the final installment, in my hands.While I haven't finished "War Lord" yet, I'm already impressed by Cornwell's ability to keep the narrative fresh and compelling, even after so many installments. The journey of Uhtred of Bebbanburg has been thrilling, and I'm eager to see how it all concludes.One of the most satisfying aspects of this experience has been knowing that I have the entire collection. There's a unique pleasure in seeing all 13 books lined up on my shelf, knowing I've followed the story from beginning to end. Just brilliant. So well researched, so well written and so readable. I have so enjoyed reading all of this series and this final chapter of Uhtred's journey has been enormously satisfying.Reading these books has encouraged me to investigate and study a period of History that I knew less about. Although I love History, most of my knowledge ranged from the Norman Conquest onwards. These books have opened a gateway to a completely different society . I loved them.
