Doesn't work on things sideways I realize that helps unhook it from its magnetics but I reel it in and it's always on its side there for not picking up anything but fish hooks

Magnet is a good quality item but the rope that came with it was not. The rope already broke after several uses. I was able to find the magnet but the rope has been replaced with a better quality one. So overall, I would purchase again but would also purchase better quality rope to use.

The media could not be loaded.  This is perfect for my kayak, I have picked up just about everything from street and real estate signs to drills and several multi tools, for my needs, this one works great, everything about it is tough.

If you are looking for a magnet to go magnet fishing this one may be your best bet.... but that depends on what you want it to do. This is made to be dropped straight down into the water... hence the term dock buster. It is fairly heavy and it is NOT intended to be thrown. The reason you don't throw it is that when you drag it back it will hop and turn upside down as you drag it back. This is not the optimal way to use this style of the magnet. I once threw it and the shape of the magnet easily caused it to be stuck in some rocks. WE had to pull really hard to move the rocks to get the magnet back. It really should be purchased as part of a set because you will ultimately want to throw sometimes and other times you will just want to use it as a dock buster. I think it is a great magnet but be careful... I have accidentally attached it full contact to a metal plate and it is almost impossible to remove the said plate. If you were to make full contact with a very heavy flat metal object you will not be able to lift it and retrieve your magnet back. This is because you will not be strong enough to lift it and the magnet will not let go. The shape of the magnet and the 2,100-pound pull will ensure you only come home with the rope, minus a few feet. It is a great magnet and I love it... I would buy again.

So I got my order missing the thread lock, I wrote their customer support (not Amazon's) and they immediately replied and helped me out. I would have got the thread lock faster had I not thought they were mind readers and already had my address.The magnet itself is 1000lb because I never magnet fished and am a 40 year old female, I went "light" to see how it goes. It picked up a TON of nails, screws, bolts, and fishing lures out of a fishing hole. I was so impressed by the company I went home and ordered a much stronger two sided magnet from Brute. Thread lock was included this time and I am currently waiting for it's 24 hour dry time to end to use it.Do yourself a favor... get this or another one of their magnets. Don't chance Chinese junk.

Now, I know gold and silver is not magnetic, But I’ve seen a documentary years ago about a guy who found a wooden box (w/*Iron corners) from one of the 1 of the 11 ships lost from Spanish Treasure ships 250 years ago. Hurricane Andrew came and whipped up the sea bottom and pushed the box with a $300K Emerald & loot inside close enough to where it washed up on shore by the tides. Not everything is going to wash up on shore, but I was doing my magnet 🧲 toss like crazy trying to find something. Though most of what I pulled in were just small Medal & meteorite fragments. You can make $100K+ off some meteorites.I know if I would have came close to anything it would’ve grabbed it and held onto it till it was in my hands. Love it! Checking the natural canals next time like I’ve watched on the Josh Gates show, Expedition Unknown.

So...this is a good magnet if you can put it on a flat object and keep it from sliding off the object. It has zero magnet in the sides where you need it most as the magnet drags on an angle. Just a waste of money
