ABUS Red 72/40 Lockout Tagout Padlock w/ 1" Shackle, Single Padlock, Keyed Different, 1 Padlock with 2 Keys

I bought a few of these for locksport and they are a lot of fun. The fit and finish is very nice and feels in line with the German design, despite the "made in China" price. The aluminum body makes it very light weight, listed as 115 grams. They came with two keys each and the cores are interchangeable through a Philips head bold that is accessible beyond the shackle toe, when the shackle is open. Be careful when removing the core because there is a small, aluminum spacer that fits between the plug and the latch mechanism. I'm not sure if this is simply a spacer, or if also serves as a rear protection plate, but even if it's not a protection plate, the latch mechanism is the rotational type so the standard straight tool bypass isn't easily applicable here (the flag style may still work, I'm not sure).I found the action to be smooth with both keys and my biting was very intense and challenging. I don't know if it's standard but mine had one straight pin and five spools for a total of six pins, making this a surprisingly challenging lock for $7.I used these for LOTO in a previous job and they were very effective for that, more traditional use as well. I highly recommend them.

It's a great intermediate learning experience for lockpicking.Being able to gut and rekey the lock is a nice feature as well.

Great lock so far! The lock is a beautiful bright orange, so I no longer have issues finding my gym locker. I also keep the lock on my keys, and it looks beautiful and has a nice weight to it, but not too heavy. No complaints.10/10

I needed a lock for my school locker, and I hate combo locks so I wanted to get a keyed one. I often keep my laptop and other expensive items in my locker, so having something with a good security rating was high on my list. I also wanted something that stood out so I could find my locker easily for the first few weeks.ABUS is really well known, and I've trusted them for more serious applications (storage lockers, gates, etc.). This lock in particular met all of my criteria, plus it is lightweight! The pricing is really good as well considering the high security rating.There is a downside of course, I locked my keys in my locker at one point last year and had to have the lock cut off. It didn't put up as much of a fight as I expected, regular bolt cutters made quick work of it. With that said if it had put up a fight, I would have been in trouble... so maybe it is a good thing!However, I just went and ordered exactly the same one as my replacement... I can't think of a better fit for my needs!

When I purchased this lock I wanted a highly rated one for security. This lock is ok but I needed more in terms of heavy security. The lock is probably fine but this is just my view after I checked it.

It takes two hands to pull the key out - which says a lot about how poorly the pins, keyway, and keys are finished. It just binds, and this lock has been opened 350-400 times over the past few months, AND lubricated on the very first day.No attempt has been made to defeat this lock, so I cannot comment on how robust it is.

Excellent build and quality. Mechanism starts a bit stiff but, after some use it smooths right out.Bought for Gym lock and, found it to be perfect for the job.Would give higher rating but, don’t ever want to say something is perfect.Get it, you won’t regret.

So beautiful. Perfect colour but too big. Very heavy too. It works though. I would order again if needed.
