yet another brilliant book by Higashino San
Brilliant, nuanced, emotive and so warm. This is one of Keigo Higashino San’s best books. Kept me at the edge, had me in tears

Something uncommon and special!
There was not much of character building for the two main characters. I figured that's my fault as it's not the 1st book in the Kaga series. In my opinion the story is nothing too great or fast paced or full of suspense. I won't deny the fact that in some places it kind of feels lame too. But (yes, there's a but) as a whole (specially the conclusion) the story melts ur heart and a certain kind of warmth lingers after the story ends.

Sub par translation
This is not the best of Higashino. And it’s made worse by really casual translation. The text is riddled with half-baked pidgin-like sentences eg … he was busy so he ‘did not do sports’ that week. But I’m still a fan of KG, especially of his insight into Tokyo alleys and cafes and old establishments selling traditional stuff, besides of course his gradual and elaborate creeping towards the reveal. But this one fails to keep me hooked. Well, I’m I’m plodding along.

Classy Keigo H murder mystery
Another superb book from the master. As always the murder happens almost on page 1 and then it’s classic Keigo H at the usual pace and inter woven stories.

This is good
What a fine detective story. So many layers of incidents and such a great ending. I will be reading the rest of the works by Higashino

Beautifully layered, the story goes beyond the "thrill" to the humanity of it all
Higashino hands us a little riddle, which spins into a much more intriguing tale of the characters and their lives. The how a person gets killed, and will we ever know it - is replaced by a deep dive into why he gets killed. Love how the focus shifts between the detectives and the people they encounter.

The plot is as usual a thick thriller
I have read all his published novels in English. Great plots. And a real thriller it is. The translator could have avoided bombastic words which was used rarely, of course. (That should have been left to a different category of book.Thrillers should always have simple language. One of success of Agatha Christie )

Beyond my explanation
I picked up this book to see how a Japanese writer handled detective fiction. I have to admit I didn't think it would be as good as the works from modern day American or British detective writers. I was so pleasantly wrong. This story was as complex as any as I have read and entertaining. A thoroughly good read.

Fantastic
The combination of a good plot and a clear translation of it has made the read superb. Whether you peruse it or skim through it, you would find that every chapter would give you special delight.I do not like how the Japanese title is translated into English, though. Too much leap.

good book, rusty translation
I enjoyed this detective story with its many twists and turns. It was a little tough to get into because the English translation is dated so the dialog isn't current. Once you deal with that, the book is thoroughly enjoyable
