Great sound for small, stylish speakers
These are really stylish and I love the small size. They have decent bass, but it won't be overpowering. For that you'll want to add on the subwoofer.I found the USB connection could sometimes get confused with my Mac, so I use the 3.5mm connection. Also, the touch volume does not work when using the USB connection, but works with 3.5mm and Bluetooth.

Great...with the sub though
Don't get these without the sub but with it these are great speakers are they gonna blow your audiophile friends away no but for daily drivers they sound great excellent sound stage plenty of volume for near field listening very happy with them but just get the sub very flat without it

Very impressed in my small game room.
Great sound for the size and cost. I look forward to adding the subwoofer in the future.

Well, it's loud, and sounds decent. But so annoying.
These have one problem that lowers it from 4 or 5 stars... it's too chatty, and when it tells you a status, it does so very LOUDLY, even if the sound is turned way down or muted. if you use bluetooth, or even need to switch inputs passing bluetooth, it announces very loudly that bluetooth is connected. If the power is off, when you turn it on, it announces "Power On" very loudly. Totally unnecessary, as lots of lights come on at that time. And when you turn it on, it doesn't remember the previous volume. Very annoying. So annoying that I never turn the power off, and do not use bluetooth, only line input, and I pray that there's no power outage.

Excellent speakers with questionable design decisions, distortion at high volumes without subwoofer.
The media could not be loaded. TLDR;You are paying for the BMR tech that allows for excellent off axis listening and compactness but they are WAY too pricy for what they are. They allow them to distort BADLY for "Premium" speakers. I'm not feeding it a high level signal its just the USB DAC. They have actual bass, not a lot, they sound Amazing. But RCAs for powering the left speaker was a weird choice. Also the cable is too short to have it invisible in my setup, its around 3ft. RCAs contain two wires, so there are 4 wires total. But the left speaker doesn’t have more than one driver so it left me confused, and I confirmed my suspicions that the RCA just has both wires shorted, so they could have just used some banana plugs here.Careful when maxing out the speaker, seems like the surround isn't enough for the driver and causes distortion around 70-85hz since the driver is reaching its max mechanical excursion causing the surround to break up.You can use a standard subwoofer with these, they used a 3.5 mm for this, I'm guessing to detect if you have it plugged in? They will have a high pass filter applied when they detect something plugged in, they also get a bit louder if you do use a sub. A simple 3.5mm to RCA (Not included!) will work fine, sadly Mackie did not mention what is the frequency cut off is when the sub is plugged in, but here is my testing:Without sub plugged in these speakers go down to around 55hz, with something connected to the subout, they go down to ~115hz with a sharp decline under that. They are missing the left right swap switch from the CR3, bummer since my pc and subwoofer are on my left, causing a wiring headache. This seems to be using the Tectonic TEBM65C20F-8 or similar, Tectonic has the rights to the BMR patent.

Has glitches, but it's great!
I really love the sound of these speakers! But, the audio is glitching when I use the USB digital input. A digital connection should have been the highest quality option, but I guess the built-in DAC must be *extremely* poor quality.I don't get any glitches when connected via bluetooth or analog aux input, and the product includes a 3.5mm aux cable. But even using the aux, there's another weird behavior. If only one channel is active (only left or only right) the audio glitches. Thankfully, this glitch never interferes with any music or video games. It only ever happens when listening to content that is specifically for testing stereo speaker orientation. These glitches make the speakers seem cheap and low quality, but these problems can be avoided and I really enjoy the way they sound. All in all, I am satisfied using these speakers.

Happy with these
I was using larger monitors on my desk that frequently got in the way. These fit much more neatly and the downgrade in audio quality isn’t noticeable. Perfect addition to the desk. The volume control does take some getting used to - it won’t take long. The power switch on the back is easy to toggle and there are multiple ways to connect them to the computer or, as I do, through an audio mixer.

Didn't last even a year.
Started crapping out with random power failures around the 8 month mark and Email support strung me along asking for multiple videos hoping I would get annoyed trying to prove thw idem was crap until past the warranty and it worked. The only the I liked was the size and design. Sound was fine. The most annoying part about them when they actually function is the super loud "Power On" announcement each time u turn them on. At this point I have to turn them on and hear it repeatedly in one sitting until the are a total brick. The volume slider is too touch sensitive and way too touchy. It's also annoying to have to switch to the appropriate mode (Bluetooth, usb, aux) each time you power up. I'll never buy another mackie product again.
