Definitely buy this launcher, but DON"T USE THE BALLS!!
Unless you really need a shorter gun, get the long one. My dog loves this launcher. The sound of cocking it and firing it really sets him off. The first one I had failed, probably because it was left outside and the elements degraded the rubber band. I would have replaced the band, but couldn't find a way to remove the front plastic part on the barrel without destroying it. It doesn't shoot as far as using a manual thrower or even throwing it by hand, but that hasn't been a problem. It is hard for small kids to cock it and pull the trigger, which can lead them to cocking it while having it pointed at their face, which obviously should be avoided. The launcher is so much fun for kids that you should cock it yourself, and then help them pull the trigger if necessary. If you use it at the beach, you will need to rinse it out every few minutes to get the sand out.My only complaint with this toy is the low quality balls that come with it. A regular tennis ball lasts quite a while with my Lab, but the seams in the nerf balls are instantly removed and swallowed. The rest of the ball follows soon after, breaking up into easily swallowed pieces. It is a mystery to me why Nerf would spend the money on making these defective and dangerous balls, when the lowest quality tennis balls would have been vastly superior. The fix is easy: throw the supplied balls away as soon as you open the package and get some of the cheapest regular tennis balls that you can find. I rated this launcher five stars because it is pretty perfect aside from the balls.

Do you have a ball maniac for a dog like I do, You might just appreciate this Nerf GUN like I do.
My dog and I freaking love this toy 😁😁. The balls didn’t last more than an hour before he broke through them but I knew that was going to happen because he bust open all the bigger tennis balls we’ve had, but that’s not what I’m grading I am grading how the Nerf gun performs and it works great.

Trigger to strong for 5 or 8 year old but fun for adults!
Trigger too strong for 5 and 8 year old to use... I purchased for my kids to have fun with. It does work well and is built well only reason an 4 and not 5 star is unfortunately the trigger takes a lot of force. Adult will have no problem shooting it but the kids will have to use something else.

This contraption rocks!
This Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster is a great toy for both dogs and their owners! It launches tennis balls far with minimal effort, making fetch games way more fun, especially for high-energy dogs. The compact size is convenient, and it works with standard tennis balls, which is a plus. However, retracting the blaster to reload takes a good amount of force, which might be difficult for younger kids to handle on their own. My almost 5 year old can't really use it, but maybe that's for the best haha Adults and older kids shouldn’t have any trouble, but keep that in mind if you're buying this for a child who wants to play fetch with their pup.

Updated: It Broke
Updated 7/30:It broke. My husband thinks he can fix it but this is absolutely a waste of money. If I could still return it, I would.__________Original Review:We have a fetch-driven dog and thought this would be a fun way to throw the ball far. This might seem obvious but this is purely a novelty and not practical at all. The gun is loud when fired and loading the ball, pulling back the slide and pulling the trigger gets real annoying after a few throws. We'll probably just use this when my niece and nephew are around but I suspect they'll need help using it. The trigger actually needs a lot of pressure to pull back.I think this is just a personal quirk, but I don't have enough finger strength to just use my pointer finger pad to pull the trigger. In order for me to shoot, I have to curl my finger completely around the trigger and then pull. It's hard for me to explain, but basically my first finger knuckle is doing most of the work. And the gun is designed terribly so that every time I pull the trigger, I pinch my finger pad each time. Even real guns aren't this hard to use. I really do not like this and would have returned it but my husband enjoys it so at least he gets some use out of this. In my opinion, this is overpriced and silly. You'll use this a handful of times and then it will get collect dust. Just stick with the reliable ChuckIt Launchers.Side note: even though it still works, the slide mechanism doesn't automatically go back to the start position once the back is launched. It quick working after a few shots. So now, after we launch the ball, we have to push the slide forward, pick up the ball and then pull the slide back. When it was working, the slide mechanism would automatically snap forward so all you had to do was pull the slide back after every shot, now it just added an extra step.

Excellent gun; flimsy balls
The gun I like quite a bit. It fires the balls a good distance and allows you to pick them up without getting slobber on your hand. The balls themselves are extremely fragile, and easily torn apart by a dog who is happy to lay down and chew on the ball between throws/shots. I would recommend using the orange/blue balls that say ‘Chuckit!’ on them.

Keep in a temperature controlled environment and keep your balls clean, figuratively speaking that is
My dog loves this thing, have used daily, multiple shots, will last easily 6 months before the band breaks, have went through many and this exact model is the best,I keep an extra one just in case, so my dog won’t have to wait, you can pick the ball off the ground with the barrel, which is a nice feature, warning, make sure your not picking up any leaf particles stuck to the ball,as it will seem to filter its way into the gun,and jam on rare occasions, also do not leave outside, like on you’re porch in the winter time, as the freezing temps will cause the stretch band to snap, will shoot 25-30 feet honestly, seems farther the warmer it is outside, don’t use the balls it comes with, they suck, just get some cheap yellow reg tennis balls at Walmart, and my dog knows it’s a special treat when she sees you break out a fresh new yellow ball, so treat them often as it seems to be worth every penny, hope I am trying to type out all the information that I was looking for before I purchased so I hope this helps
