Not a release trainer
I really like this for resistance exercise and warm ups before shooting. It is also a great form trainer. There really is not much to this. Its a hand grip that also holds an exercise tube. The hand grip is made for a right handed shooter but I do the resistance training on both sides and it feels perfectly comfortable in either hand. The handgrip works with exercise tubes, flat resistance bands, or static string bows. It is easy to take apart and swap out different resistance devices or shorten the tube for greater resistance at full draw.A couple od reviews mentioned the tube slipping off the hand grip. This can be cured by tying a knot in both ends of the tube or band.I like it alot and have used it every diy since it arrived. I teach a NASP program and recommend this for practicing the first 9 of the 11 steps to archery success (10 and 11 being release and follow through, and reflect).I do not recommend resistance tubes or bands for release training. After the second release it starts hurting the hand.

Decent inexpensive shot trainer
Not a bad little shot trainer for the money. I would have preferred just a little higher draw weight but this isn't a strength trainer, for those that may not understand what these are for... It allows you to develop muscle memory for, and consistency in, your shot cycle. I find that the bow grip is much better than just a resistance band for this purpose as it also allows you to pay attention to the pressure point of your bow hand as you concentrate on using proper biomechanics of your draw arm and develop good back tension technique. And really, low draw weight is actually ideal for this as it allows you to FEEL your movements and muscles rather than just feeling the pressure of overcoming a high draw weight. Pretty nifty little device that will allow me to work on form at work, or other times I can't conveniently be using an actual bow.Just a couple of small caveats... The ad says "wood handle". And while it is an attractive wood GRAIN, it is actually plastic. Nothing wrong with that as it feels plenty sturdy and has a decent shape. Just clarifying the material as part of the review. The only thing negative I really found is that being plastic, there are some mold lines that produce so somewhat sharp edges. These edges aren't in the part your hand interfaces with, but instead they are where the surgical tube wraps around the ends of the grip when under tension. I can see these sharp edges causing wear on the tubing and shortening its life. It's a simple 3 minute process with some 320 sandpaper to smooth these out, so not a big deal at all. Just wanted to mention it so that people will check theirs and take a couple minutes to sand these areas smooth, which should make the device last much longer.Overall, I find no faults and well worth the small money it costs.

This is great to retrain your muscles
My husband is a big hunter loves it but in 2020 he got sick with Sepsis and he lost tons of weight and muscle and couldnt pull his bow back. When i got him this he worked real hard to gain and retrain his muscle and this helped alot and still now he uses this before he practice his shooting in the back yard. This is good for anyone trying to gain form and train your muscle.

Nice grip
Very nice trainer with wood grip. I decided to change out the rubber band for a stronger one. Beware, it will take more than grip strength to reassemble! The square compression nut that secures the tube is not symmetrical, so be sure to replace it correctly.

Not quite ambidextrous
Descriptions says this is good for left or right hand orientation, but handle is asymmetrical, and made to be held in the left hand. Still works fine held in right hand, just not quite as comfortable.
