I'm not sure if it's suitable for out doors as I purchased for indoor use.

Hi. No, this weighs nowhere near like 15 kg. Not sure of the exact weight but it feels more like 2-3 kg max.

Q: Could branches be bent to fit onto a 15cm wide beam above my fireplace?

The Wires in mine were flexible enough to fit around a banister, I'm pretty sure they'd fit on a 15cm wide fire place beam.
