What layout is this? the title says uk, but the pictures show german.

I bought one a long time ago and it was UK layout. I remember being confused about the picture too.

Can I use on an iMac?

Hi, I'm using it on a Mac Mini with no issues whatsoever, you will just have to go through a setup step when you first plug it in, (literally press one key when asked) and the Mac finds it without a problem. You will have to get used to using the 'Shift and 2' keys to get the @, as it is windows based, but other than that, there isn't an issue. As an aside, I write for a living and bought mine to replace my Mac keyboard that had lost the use of the escape key, but on using it for the first time I found the keyboard far too 'clacky' for me to use as a work tool, I found it too distracting. I bought a Microsoft wired 600 keyboard and find it 100% better, far quieter, and it even has volume keys that work (unlike the Cherry). If you like good old mechanical keyboards that provide lots of feedback as you type, the Cherry will be perfect. Hope this helped!

The item model number is "JK-0800GB-2". Note the GB in it, so it's the GB layout despite the pictures.

does this item have a pound sign?

No, and this keyboard does not work well with Windows unless you tell it you are in USA. It does, however, have a Euro sign. The Cherry KC-1000 is absolutely fine in UK provided you buy the correct product code, which is JK-0800GB-0. This one is JK-0800EU-0. You can get the GB one from, for example, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B018WJO8Q2/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item with whom I am not connected. Note that although the latter is described as grey it is in fact the same whitish colour as those that are described as white.
