I purchased this hat for my wife and myself after looking at cold weather hat options for a long time. We needed them for an upcoming photo trip to Yellowstone National Park in the dead of winter, February. Turned out to be one of the coldest weeks there on record. Our daily lows were around -25 and it warmed up during the day to -10, without considering windchill. These hats were one of the very best items of clothing we took with us. We spent hours outside in the frigid air filming the wildlife and honestly our heads and ears never got the slightest bit cold. Only one time did my wife ( who is cold sensitive) mention that her head was cold, and I told her, she forgot to put on the hat. So it was a great comparison test and so comfortable, light weight and even stylish. The short brim was a selling point for me being a photographer I wanted a brim but something that would not get in the way of me looking into the view finder of the camera. But I also want some eye protection from the snow and occasional very bright sun. The brim worked as I had hoped, perfectly since much of the time outside we had blowing snow and blizzard conditions. What a great purchase and stood up to very extreme conditions for hours at a time. Head stayed toasty warm which was a big factor for helping maintain the rest of the body's warmth, since most body heat is lost through the top of the head in cold conditions. I must add that my wife did not want me to buy her one, but she was so glad that I did, she rarely took it off, even when we came back inside after a long day. Like wearing a nice warm blanket on your head. Honestly, can't beat this for function and price, it exceeded expectations!!!

This hat fits nicely for semi-larger heads like mine. I like the bill on the beanie and the cute leather brand tag on the rim and its fleece lined for all the warmth

This is a good hat for top down driving in a convertible when it is cold out even for a shaved head.The inner layer is tight knit fleece so it serves as a decent wind breaker. The shape covers your ears, temples, well down the back of your head and over the back of your neck of needed so lots of warmth.It provides a small brim for your face to protect from the sun which, combined with how much it covers, means you only have to worry about sunscreen for your face below your glasses.

I was looking at a lot of pictures of people living in Wisconsin in the 1950s and they all had hats sort of like this one and I thought to myself "I should get a hat like that." So I did a search here on Amazon for "brimmed winter hat" or "brimmed beanie" and it lead me to this one. I thought "yeah, that looks like what I'm looking for," and picked out the dark green army color and ordered it because I needed a winter hat, anyway. It came in the mail a few days later and I'm pretty pleased with it so far! It's a very bold fashion statement, and gives you a look that, I think, challenges people.One thing I like about it is that it completely covers your ears, eliminating the need for something like earmuffs. I wore it out today when I walked downtown in search of a phone repair shop to get my phone's charger port repaired at and it's the middle of November as of the time I'm writing this and it rained today so it was particularly cold. This hat, coupled with a sweater and jacket I was wearing, kept me warm in the frosty temperature. I found a phone repair shop, dropped my phone off for repairs then went grocery shopping, I later returned downtown and picked up my now-functioning phone and walked several city blocks back to my car, staying warm the whole time. So I'm pretty pleased with this hat.Some people have said the hat seems to be made out of cheap material. I've only had it a few days so I can't say that for certain but I don't think it's very cheap. It's a twelve dollar hat, which is, I guess, a normal price for a hat. I don't buy many hats so it's really hard to say what the price of a hat should be, or how high the price of a high end hat is or whatever but I think twelve dollars was a fair price for this hat and I really like the color. Like I said, I got the dark green "army" color because I already own a few black or gray hats and I wanted something different for a change. I'd say, all in all, it's a very good hat for the price and that you should pick it up if you want to make a bold fashion statement for the winter.

Stocking cap comfortable and warm, brim is lacking and short for my taste.
