They have an petroleum smell.
The gloves I received stink--literally. An oily petroleum smell. Tried washing them and leaving them in the sun, but the smell stays.

These gloves are great. They protect your hands from cuts and metal slivers. They prevent oil soaking through and getting on your hands. The leather is soft and flexible. The price is a bargain at $10 per pair. I got six weeks of use out of one pair.
