I feel compelled to write a review because I have to do justice to this senbei cracker, which I think has unfairly gotten lower ratings due to its "fishiness." The umami taste is a strong bonito flavor, reminiscent of dried squid snacks popular in Asian countries (or bonito flakes for dashi). The savory taste is perfectly brought out by a vibrant spiciness that grows with every bite, but never overpowers--and is balanced by a very slight sweetness. The thin cracker has a fantastic crunch, which is a lot more substantial than the thinness may suggest. Overall a very fun snack to eat. This would go great with a beer.If you're looking for a standard, "vanilla" senbei, this isn't what you're looking for, and in fact the boldness of the experience is probably why many others were shocked into giving it a lower rating. But if you're looking for something authentic yet unique, take a leap of faith and give it a try. It's the real deal.

Just the right amount of spiciness.Extra-crunchy and distinct texture.The crackers themselves have a strong flavor, but adding toppings such as cheese or avocado makes them even more delicious.It is convenient for storage because it is packed in two pieces.I enjoyed it!!

It's crunchy and spiced.The packaging was solid and nothing was broken.It's a bigger cracker than I expected and big enough to hold whatever toppings you put on it.It has a good chili pepper flavor and is recommended for those who like spicy crackers.

These crispy crackers are so delicious! Can't stop eating. Just right amount of pepper hotness and mentaiko flavor! Love them!

Not sure if it's just that our box was incredibly stale or what, but these were honestly just absolutely terrible. Truly a waste of money and shipping, unfortunately.

I was expecting something tasting crunchy, crispy, and fresh like what I ate while traveling in Japan. However, this snack is hard and too fishy to enjoy it. The product is indeed made in Japan but I don't think I can appreciate its acquired taste now.

This was the worst thing I ever put in my mouth

Okay so this is totally my bad for not checking the ingredients. I was incredibly stoned when I bought these and thought they were some kind of Japanese or Thai crushed potato cheese cracker. Imagine my surprise when I take a big crunch and it tastes like seafood!It was delicious after the shock wore off. I added avocado slices and gochujang, then dipped them in a raw egg yolk. A delightful light breakfast! I strongly recommend if you like dried squid and bonito flakes :)
