Not a deterrent on their own!
i'd love to be able to say that these worked but,unfortunately, they didn't. I religiously wore one every day during a recent holiday to Cape Verde but still managed to come home with several bites - 3 of which where within 10cm of the bracelet.They certainly give off a pungent, insect-repellant type odour but, having read some independent reviews since being bit, bands like this only seem to work when they come into direct contact with the mozzies!I'm just thankful that I also had some jungle spray and a plug-in as, once I started using those, no more bites.To summarise - I wouldn't not buy these, just make sure you use them in conjunction with a spray.

Effective but eye-wateringly smelly
Three stars because, although these do work, boy do they stink. Strooong! Like, eye-wateringly strong. Too strong to wear as a wrist band as intended, in the end we had one of these hanging from a shelf in the bedroom to repel mosquitoes. It did work, but even just hanging above us in the room is still stinks. I'd look for a less stinky solution.

Allergic Reaction
I can only give one star to these as I wore one round my ankle once and it irritated my skin so much that I was left with an angry rash all round my ankle. This rash lasted for the entire ten days of my holiday. I wouldn't recommend for anyone with sensitive skin, which admittedly I do have, may be ok if you don't.

Comfortable, not ugly and smell OK!
Used these on a recent trip to central Africa.Wasn't bitten at all. However I don't think it was a big time for mosquitoes when i went. Not a problem to wear just in case though. Two packs will easily last a couple of weeks.

much better to get a plug in for the house and ...
worked well for me, but my son and husband still got bitten. gets very weak as soon as it gets mildly wet. much better to get a plug in for the house and spirals for outside

Useless
I am currently in Malta. I put the band on the minute we arrived 24 hours ago and I am covered in bites. One of them is about an inch from the bracelet (see photo), so these are a complete waste of money as far as I am concerned.Off in search of a pharmacy tomorrow.

Effective
Worked better then expected, used them in Mexico and only had a couple of bites each, we did use these with jungle formula spray and a plug in for the hotel room. These lose their potency if not removed when swimming and showering. All in all I believe they did help reduce the number of bites.
