Lost in Taiwan (A Graphic Novel)

The illustrations in this graphic novel are absolutely gorgeous and the storyline is equally enchanting. At first I expected a cliché story set in Taipei but I was pleasantly surprised! The setting is a small village in Yunlin County and the writer skillfully portrays the authentic essence of rural life – the rice paddies, the serene embrace of nature, the cultural richness of temples, food and friendly locals. I was captivated from the first page :-) hands down one of the best graphic novels I've ever read!

A great book for people of all ages

Beautiful and detailed illustrations bring our memories back in Taiwan. Both my kids, 7Y and 9Y, enjoy reading this book. They read more than 5 times before I started. I found out I enjoyed reading it in every way, the story, the vibe, the illustrations. Now 「Lost in Taiwan」is our new favorite book.

I really enjoyed this! As a longtime resident of Taiwan it was great to see the country from a new perspective and appreciate the familiar things again. It goes without saying that the illustrations are beautiful and the atmospheric street scenes are really well depicted

Speaking as someone who spent several years of their childhood in Taiwan, I can say the author captures the essence of it well. He also shares a lot of interesting metaphors and great ideas about the necessity of opening our minds and worlds. I recommend this book for all who would call attention to darkness. Four copies purchased here and will be distributed to my family. Hope friends will enjoy it too.

I didn’t find the story quite as engaging as “My last summer with Cass” or “Brody’s Ghost” but the artwork is as great as ever. While Marks style changes slightly with each book, they are all really cool! So much fun to look at! if you haven’t read his books - go for it!

My favorite part has to be the “biggie smalls” bit, I definitely laughed out loud. It was surprisingly sweet, but overall inspiring story.

Sent as an gift to my boyfriend to know more things about Taiwan, and he really likes it!

I lived in Taiwan for about three years a couple of decades ago, and I miss the place every day. This book captures the beauty and wonders of the place. It was a lovely read, and I am recommending it to all my friends and relatives. Perhaps it will bring back memories of Taiwan, or inspire you to take the plunge.
