IT WORKS, quiet, different settings are a plus
Before getting this unit, I was considering having the air purifying system installed on our HVAC handler in the attic, but I really didn't want to pay 2500 and then have to pay 300 every few years for the replacement filter cartridge. So I happen to come across this unit and after reading about its features I thought I'd try it and it was a 1/3 of the cost of the other unit. The first one arrived damaged but the company customer service rep was AMAZING and a new one was sent right away - although I had to re-box the non functioning one and have UPS come and pick it up.The unit is literally 'plug and play' meaning, after you remove the plastic film from the interior filter cartridge, and all of the styrofoam, you plug it in and it is running. There are 3 fan settings and an auto choice. There is also a night time setting where the light around the rim is not displayed. I put the unit in our living room because the downstairs is mostly open concept and the square footage is only about 1000. There is also a feature to run the unit remotely through the wifi connection.I have a dog and 4 kids and I am cleaning every day and the laundry is running constantly. I've had our house heating ducts cleaned last year, carpet installed upstairs and hardwood throughout the first floor. So, I run this air cleaner 24/7. After 2.5 months I ran my hand over the vented filter door and the dust collected was amazing! You can see it on the floor in the 4th pic. I then took the filter out and as you can see in the 5th and 6th pics - it was loaded - yet the unit said the filter was still 'good!' That filter was pristine white when new! So it is WORKING and my home is pretty clean to start!! I took a swifter dry cloth to clean the filter and you can see the dirt in the last picture. Also, the unit is pretty sensitive because when cooking or even running my essential oil diffuser, the unit will show as a red ring around the top (showing the air quality is not good) and if the setting is on AUTO, it will increase the fan speed until it has cleaned the air.I really am so pleased with this unit and I am thinking about getting another one for the upstairs. The ONLY drawback for me is the size BUT it is a nice looking unit.HIGHLY recommend the unit and the company who stands behind it. IF you have any specific questions feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer it!

Large but efficient
I love the futuristic look of this air purifier. It does have a glowing blue light so if you want to sleep with it in a bedroom it's got a convenient sleep mode which shuts the light off it works extremely well even when it comes to cooking it will clear out the smell in a short amount of time. I let some olive oil burn on the stove and it actually signaled that the air quality was poor so it was a great sign it's working properly. It sounds similar to an AC unit when you put it on the third setting which is the highest and it's required to keep it away from any walls so it is a bit of an eyesore if you don't have somewhere that you can put it. Overall I think this is a great product

It's big! Also a bit noisier than I was hoping...
I ordered this air purifier in advance of the possibility that we may be getting a cat soon (and I sometimes have allergy issues around cats). I intend to update this review in the future once that happens, but for now this is my review of this air purifier as a non-pet owner…The price of this item is quite steep, but when it arrived I started to get a better understanding of the pricing…First of all, this thing is quite large - much larger than I had expected. It stands nearly 36” tall, and is a sort of imposing presence in a room. My wife was in the kitchen while I was unboxing it and when she walked in the room I got the “Are you kidding me???” look from her. To keep peace in the house, I tucked it as far into a corner as I could, but my understanding is that this isn’t ideal placement for it.Setup was easy - just unbox it, open the lower cover, remove the filter, take the plastic bag off, replace the filter, and plug it in.The LED air quality indicator has never deviated from the blue “Good” state, so I guess our house isn’t too dusty/dirty.I managed to get it connected to the app on my iPhone and I can remotely change settings on it easily.I have been leaving the fan in “Auto” mode, and it has been running at low-ish speed (but not as low as the “Sleep” setting). When cranking it up to the low, medium, or high speeds, the noise level can increase quite a bit. Note that the speed it is running at for me when in Auto mode seems slower than “Low”, but faster than “Sleep”...The only real complaint I have so far is that I feel it could be a bit quieter. I have no issue listening to white noise (I have a white noise source to sleep to), but for some reason, there is a bit of “extra” noise with this product. It almost sounds like a very faint rattle, and it really catches my ear when the room is otherwise quiet (no TV, etc). I thought maybe this was the sound of the plasma generator, but I turned that off to no effect. From reading some of the details, it looks like the filter needs to be replaced approximately once per year - which to me is OK. Any more often than that can get pricey. It is also hard to figure out where to get replacement filters (and the cost of those filters), but I believe I found them on the DH-Lifelabs web site - it just doesn’t list it as compatible with this “Sciare” model. I think maybe this model is a new addition to their product line and the listing needs to be updated. It is also out of stock right now, but shows a cost of $70. My hope is that they become available for purchase on Amazon by the time I need to order one.I have to go with a rating of 4 stars for now, mainly because the faint rattle sound is distracting to me. If I find in the future that this rattle goes away, or I find that it works miracles for pet allergy issues, I will update this in the future!
