Let’s talk about the smell…
I really liked the look & function of these things, but everywhere I was seeing complaints about the smell like sewage or something.I am particularly VERY sensitive to smell, so I thought this would be an issue but given Amazon’s generous return policy I figured I’d give it a shot.Upon opening the box, yeah it smelled a bit. Maybe not as bad as others make it seem, but I followed the instructions and rinsed it off good because apparently there’s residue & chemicals & other sediment from the factory.I just rinsed it with the shower head and stood it up in the bathtub to dry overnight. For the first couple of days, tiny bit of smell in the bathroom but only I could smell it and others couldn’t.After a week it was completely gone and I haven’t smelled it since almost 2 months later.I’m not sure why some people seem to have such a bad experience, maybe some stones are worse than others. Overall the smell has been non-existent and I love this bath stone mat.Looks great, dries fast, a little smell at first and then it goes away.

Stone bath mat
We have a nice bathroom, however, the bath mats we had were gross. Yes, they did their job in soaking up water when we took our nightly showers. In the morning, though, they’d still be saturated. I don’t know how many times I’d be getting ready for work, half-awake, and would step on a mat while in my socks, completely saturating them. Talk about a rude awakening.I read about stone mats and decided to try it out. When my husband saw it, he was confused. “What’s with the rock thing in front of the shower?” “It’s a stone bath mat that’s super absorbent, I wanted to give it a shot. It looks nice, right?” “It does, but I’m just worried my fat butt will break it.”He did have a point. My husband is a big guy, so his concern was valid. We’ve been using it for close to a month now and it’s still in one piece. I’m getting another one for our bath tub and one for my 14 year old stepson’s bathroom, as his solution to water on the floor is leaving the puddles there.Really great product, highly recommend!

Surprisingly Comfy
When my husband said he wanted to give this a try, I was a bit taken aback. I showed it to him as a half joke, but he was actually intrigued! We bought it, I sprayed it down like the instructions said and it immediately started drying up! It works great for the few weeks we've had it. It is actually comfy to stand on. It's not plush obviously, but not the unforgiving feel of like slate or concrete.

Good mat, some sensory notes
I like this mat as it doesn't smell and cleans well. Something to note if you have sensory issues, after each shower or bath, the first 3-5 steps you take on it will feel sticky as it's absorbing the water from the bottom of your feet. It took some getting used to for me, but I think it's worth it.

Neat product better than a rug
I like the absorbance and it is warmer than my tile floor. Still cool. It isn't as large as I thought it would be. I haven't had it long enough to clean it. It seems to stay in place well with the mat that comes with it.

You may never go back to a regular bath mat
Okay I love this thing!!! It’s sooo nice to get out of the shower onto something actually dry, that doesn’t turn all cold and damp. It definitely helps reduce all of the moisture related issues that come with bathrooms too. I also never had an issue with the smell like a lot of people say, and I have a very sensitive nose. I think maybe everyone’s dramatic. These are being sold for hundreds of dollars on other sites, and this is such a great deal! Just do it!

The Best Bath "Mat" Ever
I purchased the Stone Bath Mat a few months back and I've been really impressed by its quality and how well it performs. The diatomaceous earth stuff works pretty well, and soaks up water a lot faster than my older fabric bath mat. It's also pretty easy to maintain if you just rub the sandpaper on it once and awhile. Finally, it does look a smidge more classy than the standard bath mat.
