This book is stunning! The pictures included are fabulous. I have never seen a portrait copy Of King George III, Queen Charlotte and their children. I have not read it all, but there is an immense amount of information about the era and particularly clothing of the day. This book is the ultimate coffee table book.. Fabulous job by this author.

Text heavy and well researched. Well illustrated. More images of extant clothing would have been nice.

This is a superb history of 18th-century fashion ! The subtitle is a bit misleading, because it necessarily includes French fashion, as well as British. The illustrations are from French, Italian, and other artists. It covers hairstyles & wigs, makeup, uniforms, foreign influences, and many other aspects of fashion. It is very comprehensive, and written in a straightforward, not overly academic style. Highly recommended !

I loved this book. The book is a fabulous depiction of how changes throughout an era can effect fashion. Each picture has a well written synopsis as to why this certain style was important at the time. I highly recommend this book if you are into fashion!!

Exquisite photos and well researched information

Catalog of current art show in Queen's Gallery London. Very useful to have it sent by Amazon rather than travel with very heavy book! Came in good time

This is the best art book on British Portraiture in my collection of 700 art books. A large book with excellent print quality. The reproductions are extra large in most occasions which is possible due to the large format of the book. So many gems from the Royal Collection produced by the legendary artists like Gainsborough, Zoffany, Hogarth, Ramsay, Reynolds and some others are presented here in the largest possible way without wasting any part of the pages. This is the way a book of painting should be produced.I am very pleased to have this jewel in my box.
