I'd recommend using this inside a cardboard box at first
I really like this machine, I was able to sharpen my knives rather quickly with it. The new buffing wheels, while being used, seem to shed loose threads. I'd recommend using something to catch the threads as they attempt to escape into the mystic. Safety glasses are a must. I use the machine and a leather strop with compound to give my knives a surgically sharp edge to my knives. It runs pretty silently and doesn't slide around on the tile countertop. I am very pleased with the machine.

Robiust!
Using this for a few weeks. Running a wire wheel and buffing wheels. Very solid. Runs smooth and quiet. Does the job well.

Fantastic budget buffer
Seems well balanced and plenty of power for my needs. Doesn't seem to slow down with general use. I compared the model I received to the Harbor Freight Bauer buffer and they are physically identical. I read in one of the reviews that someone didn't like the Bauer model because it didn't have a flat spot on the shaft for a wrench, but they both do.

Decent value for the $$
Not bad, well made, fairly quite, vibration isn't bad. nice for small jobs,,Cons: Not variable speed, pads that come with the machine are crap, use them for scrap pads, fell apart on first use. Can't handle a lot of pressure before the motor bogs down.
