I am one of those people where I don't pick up new skills easily. I just don't. And I have trouble following most tutorials and written directions just because...I don't know. I'm not good at it. So I hate to say it, but the only beginner crochet kit I have EVER been successful with is Woobles. After that, I was able to take on a kit like this. But I absolutely couldn't resist making it a Deku Scrub from Legend of Zelda as soon as I saw the mouth so pardon the reference photo lol!!But the reason I only took one star away is that the kit is quality. It comes with EVERYTHING you need, even scissors! If you have a little bit of experience and know the basic stitches of crochet, plus how to make a magic loop, you'll be fine with this kit. But no, I wouldn't recommend it if you've never picked up a crochet hook before!

This has opened up a whole new obsession for me. It made the process so accessible and made a super intimidating craft easy. My new favorite hobby. So happy I got this kit.

If you're an actual beginner like me with no crochet experience please pass on this kit. It is extremely hard to follow and NOT beginner friendly.

I really liked this crochet kit and so did my daughter! It comes with everything you need and even has a tutorial video! I will definitely be getting the others. This was a great way to get started with crocheting and wasn’t overwhelming at all. Highly recommended!

I've never crocheted before and this is a nightmare. It's so CONFUSING. There's a QR code you have to scan to get the basic stich instructions (which don't really go into detail). The QR code, although has a person breezing through their stitches, also has an automated so of voice to text voice which is also a bit off-putting.I tried going on YouTube, and it's not much help either. I think I'm going to give up and return this because it truly feels like false advertising. It feels like a waste of money because trying to decipher the instructions feels like reading hieroglyphics!!! >:(

I think the quality of the "yarn" and hook are really great. I was really impressed with all that was included and with how it was packaged. The so-called scissors were complete trash though, I had to saw back and forth because they didn't line up and the yarn just got shredded. I also had a couple stitch markers break. I am a beginner at crochet. I have taken a few classes but still learning. I thought this would be a great test to see how well I could read a pattern. I also watched the videos though and quickly realized that the written pattern does not match what is said in the video. The video adds slip stitches and a chain at the beginning of each new round. The computer or person talking in the video also abbreviates the words like they are in the written pattern. For example: the pattern writes increase as inc. Instead of saying the word increase the video says ink. It difficult to hear and took a minute for me to figure out. It was annoying but I was able to get past it eventually. The video was clearly done and was easy to see exactly what they were doing. I just wish it matched the written pattern. I also wonder if I had NOT used the videos would it have turned out correctly? Overall cute and fun crochet kit that I would recommend to someone who does have some familiarity with crochet.

I've been looking into crocheting, so bought this to work on with the daughter. Very easy to get into, very easy for beginners, and easy to do too! Also - very cute :)

I loved crafting this little octopus. The kit came with a ton of necessary tools including stitch markers, yarn needles, and yarn. The only part that I found really challenging were the tentacles. This isn't my first crochet but I still needed to watch the instruction video a few times. Once I figured it out, it took a while but turned out great.
