There is while paper over the adhesive and peep it off and the adhesive clear/black adhesive. I put it on my red truck and it looks as if it was put on by the company or dealership.

It is a darker color, I put mine on a silver gray color on a Teardrop trailer. It does not show. I am pretty sure it would work good on a Red Background.
