I have ordered four wands now, in the weeks before christmas, to see which ones i should give to my kids. All of the wands were from the noble collection. After extensive testing, I've come to the conclusion that these are simply awesome gifts.This one in particular is simply a blast to play with.Upon receiving the item via Amazon Prime from Blythe (fulfilled by Amazon), i opened the well made cardboard box with the picture of Hermione on it. Inside was a protective hard plastic cover that kept the wand and key in place, with the wand and key themselves set in a plastic moulded tray, covered with faux velvet.The wand is thicker than the "original" Hermione wand, but obviously neeeds to be to put batteries in. 2 AAA batteries are required, but not supplied. It is still elegantly decorated, and looks just like the "original" Hermione replica wand.A word of caution - be careful with the key...i foolishly turned it the wrong way and snapped it....silly me. However, the battery compartment can be opened with a screwdriver - just find the right size head to fit it in and all is well.Once the batteries are inserted, it activates with a simple snap of the wrist, as befits any spell casting action. Waving the wand around will not activate it, meaning you can activate it and play with the wand whilst lit. The sensitivity is just about right, to allow it to be played with without being turned off, ,but to be turned on and off at will very easily. It can also be turned on if you hit it on something however, so be careful when you are storing it - a great tip i found on the internet was to slghlty loosen the battery compartment so that the batteries wont connect and turn on, saving your batteries, and also preventing the batteries from going nasty and ruining the inside of the wand.I found myself flicking it on and off, wandering around the house, flciking it on and off..etc....thoroughly enjoyable.Therefore I am sure my kids will absolutely LOVE it!The only downside id say is that the illuminating tip is obvious...if theyd managed to disguise it as part of the wand still - even by just a thin paint layer or something, so the light shines through the paint or something, that would have just been awesome!I highly recommended this item to anyone who has kids (or adults) who love the Harry Potter books and films.

The light worked and was nice, the hold was comfortable and it looked brilliant. You could dim and brighten the light via button. One problem though, it randomly started dimming and brightening itself, but super easy fix. It also made it look like it was glowing with an actual spell. Do recommend!!

I love it!! The Illuminating tip is great, although it's main use, apart from a good night light, is to bring life to the 'Lumos' and 'Nox' spells!! It's great as a toy and it's great to have.

The product was delivered very promptly and in good condition.The box is simple but pretty, it is a plastified cardboard with a picture of Hermione on the top. Inside is a moulded plastic perfectly encasing the item, with a velvety texture.This product is resin-based and so sturdy enough for kids to play with.The pretty "carving" matches the Harry Potter brand. The colour is a light brown with bits of pink and green.The illuminating system is brilliant, with the light fading up and down by pressing the button multiple times, and switching it on and off by a brisk wrist movement or slight tap on an object.As it was Christmas present, and a fellow reviewer had advised to include the required 2 AAAs batteries to avoid disappointment, I had to do this and decided to "test it"... and ended up playing with it "to make sure it works fine"... for about half an hour. Was then reluctant to wrap it as my inner 7-year-old wanted to keep it for herself...But the joy of the actual 7 year-old girl who received it, claiming this was the best christmas present she got was worth my errmm, sniff, sacrifice. And she said she will lend it to me sometimes :)

I've been looking for this wand for ages. You can get 'light up' wands but I wanted the motion activated wand.I'm not disappointed. I love it. I used it for Halloween when the children came to call and had loads of fun with them. The youngest of them were the most amazed when I gave the wand a 'swish and flick' with the word 'Lumos' to light up the wand tip. Their eyes wide I brightened and dimmed the tip with the gentle press of the disguised button.Very easy to use, Very easy to replace every day (AAA) batteries with the key supplied.I will be purchasing Harry's wand now as well.I find it useful in the house, eg, to read by... hahaha....I'd highly recommend.

i am nine and this is the best hermione granger wand ever!!!it is a great replica as it shows the vinewood and dragon heartstring core!it works very well and when my friends saw it they all wanted one!five stars!

A brilliant wand that can be played with without fear of breaking it!!!!Very clear instructions on how to put batteries in, a must for a technophobe like myself!I have one extremely happy nine year old who is casting spells all over the house with her sturdy and working wand.

This has gone up £5 since I bought it last year, and it was expensive then. It is nicely made, and diehard Hermione fans will no doubt love it, but is it worth the money? No, probably not. My 8 year old daughter liked it, but has not got much play out of it, as once the novelty of the motion activated lighting up has worn off...that's it really.
